Gautami Kapoor, a key cast member of the recently released series 'The B***ds of Bollywood', has offered a revealing glimpse into the working style of debutant director Aryan Khan. She highlighted his meticulous, hands-on approach, which even tested the patience of veteran actor Bobby Deol during filming.
A Stickler for Perfection: The Aryan Khan Directing Style
In a recent interview, Kapoor dispelled any speculation about ghost direction, emphatically stating that every aspect of the show was steered by Aryan Khan himself. "Each and everything done in the show is done by Aryan," she affirmed. She described her first meeting with him during a script reading with 25 actors, where his staggering clarity for every character left her amazed.
Kapoor praised the 25-year-old's maturity and confidence, noting he was deeply involved in staging scenes and even performed stunts himself to demonstrate what he wanted from the actors. "So many of the stunts he used to do it and show actors," she shared, underscoring his hands-on methodology.
Bobby Deol's Reaction to Multiple Takes
The actress also spoke about her experience working with Bobby Deol, describing him as a calm and reserved co-star who never threw his weight around. However, she revealed that Aryan Khan's perfectionist demands led to some on-set frustration. "Aryan is a stickler for perfection, so it was never 1-2 takes, it was always 10-15 takes," Kapoor explained.
This rigorous process was a collective experience. "We were all at it, whether it was Bobby Deol, Manoj Bawa, or anyone," she said, adding that Bobby Deol, like others, would understandably get irritated after numerous retakes for a single scene.
Lessons in Humility from the Khan Family
Beyond his professional rigor, Gautami Kapoor lauded Aryan Khan's upbringing and warm nature, which she sees as a reflection of his father, superstar Shah Rukh Khan. She shared that Aryan would often hug her and drop her to the lift when they met at the Red Chillies office.
She recounted a touching incident involving Shah Rukh Khan during a screening of the show's first two episodes. When her daughter had to leave midway, Shah Rukh Khan personally got up, escorted the nervous girl to the lift, and engaged her in conversation about her studies. "There is no need for him to do all this," Kapoor remarked, deeply moved by the gesture. "So much to learn from these people."
The series, which marks Aryan Khan's much-talked-about directorial debut, has been receiving positive reviews, with his detailed direction and clear vision being singled out for praise by the cast and audiences alike.
