Bollywood Community Mourns the Loss of Zarine Khan
The Bollywood film industry came together on Monday to pay their final respects to veteran actress Zarine Khan during an emotional prayer meet in Mumbai. The event saw numerous prominent figures from the entertainment world gathering to honor the memory of the late actress who passed away on November 7 at the age of 81.
Family Members Share Heartfelt Memories
Sanjay Khan, the actor-director and husband of Zarine Khan, shared a touching anecdote about their first meeting and marriage proposal. "I met her when I was 18, she was 14. I looked into her eyes and I was like khuda ko dekh rha hoo (watching a god)," he recalled emotionally. He remembered how her intelligent response to his marriage proposal convinced him she would make a wonderful wife.
Zayed Khan, their son and fellow actor, expressed his profound grief saying, "My mother was my god. I will miss her deeply." The emotional tribute reflected the close bond they shared throughout her life.
Celebrity Tributes Pour In
Superstar Hrithik Roshan, who was previously married to Zarine's daughter Sussanne, expressed his gratitude for the love he received from his former mother-in-law. "It has been my privilege to love and be loved by you," Roshan stated during the prayer meet, highlighting the special relationship they maintained.
Fardeen Khan, Zarine's nephew, offered moving words about her enduring legacy. "Her memory, spirit and essence will live on through us," he affirmed, capturing the sentiment shared by all present.
Daughter's Emotional Instagram Tribute
Sussanne Khan shared a heartfelt video from the prayer meet on her Instagram account along with an emotional note about her mother. "Zarine Sanjay Khan to the world, but to me and my siblings, simply our mother," she wrote. Sussanne expressed awe at the overwhelming turnout of people from all walks of life who came to pay respects, noting how her mother made everyone feel seen and heard regardless of their background.
The prayer meet followed Zarine Khan's funeral which had been attended by numerous Bollywood personalities including Kajol, Aly Goni, Jasmine Bhasin, and other stars from the film fraternity. Zarine Khan is survived by her husband Sanjay Khan, their son Zayed Khan, and daughters Sussanne Khan, Farah Khan Ali, and Simone Arora.
