Authorities have successfully recovered the majority of the stolen items following the arrest.
The Lokhandwala Burglary: A Brazen Act
The theft occurred at the actor's apartment in the upscale Lokhandwala area of Mumbai. According to police reports, the accused, identified as Rahul Kumar Raushan (22), allegedly executed the burglary on April 18. He is reported to have gained entry into the building by posing as a visitor. Once inside, he targeted Abhimanyu Singh's home, making off with a haul of expensive jewellery and other precious items.
The stolen property included a wide array of valuables. Police listed items such as gold and diamond jewellery, luxury watches, and other high-end accessories. The total estimated value of the stolen goods was pegged at approximately Rs 1.37 crore, highlighting the scale of the crime.
Police Crack the Case with Technical and Ground Work
The investigation was taken up by the D.N. Nagar Police Station. Officers utilized a combination of technical surveillance and traditional detective work to track down the suspect. Their efforts led them to the accused, Rahul Kumar Raushan, who was subsequently placed under arrest.
During interrogation, the police discovered that Raushan was not a first-time offender. He is believed to be a serial burglar involved in multiple similar cases across the city. The modus operandi often involved entering residential buildings under false pretenses to identify and target specific apartments.
Recovery of Stolen Valuables and Legal Proceedings
Following the arrest, the police team managed to recover almost all of the stolen property from the actor's home. The recovered items, valued at Rs 1.37 crore, were seized as evidence. This successful recovery is a major win for the investigating team and provides substantial relief to the victim.
The D.N. Nagar Police have registered a case against the accused under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code for theft. He was produced before a local court, which has remanded him to police custody for further questioning. Investigators are now probing his potential involvement in other unsolved burglary cases in Mumbai and surrounding regions.
This incident has once again raised concerns about security in residential complexes, even in affluent neighborhoods. It underscores the importance of vigilant security personnel and robust access control systems to prevent such impersonation and unauthorized entry.
