Bigg Boss Star Ajaz Khan Booked for Spreading Fake News
Indore police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) against television actor and Bigg Boss fame Ajaz Khan for allegedly circulating fake and highly objectionable content on his social media handles. The case was filed at the Crime Branch in Indore, leading to the actor being summoned for questioning.
Police Investigation and Seizure of Phone
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Indore) Rajesh Dandotiya confirmed the development to ANI. He stated that after the FIR was lodged, a notice was served to Ajaz Khan, who subsequently appeared at the police station to record his official statement. As part of the investigation, his mobile phone was seized in connection with a case that is two months old.
The ADCP provided further context, revealing that the police action was part of a larger crackdown on misinformation. "Many fake news stories were circulating on social media about the incident," Dandotiya said. "Thirty-two accounts were blocked, and complaints were filed against 68 accounts." The specific case against Khan was initiated over claims that a video containing highly objectionable material was being shared from his social media profile.
A History of Social Media Controversies
This is not the first time Ajaz Khan has encountered legal trouble due to his online activities. In a previous instance, an FIR was registered against him for an objectionable post targeting a YouTuber and his family. The video in that case was reported to contain "multiple offensive, defamatory, and obscene references," including derogatory remarks and false imputations.
More recently, in October of this year, the Delhi High Court granted him anticipatory bail in a separate matter. The bail was approved on the condition that he furnish a bail bond of ₹30,000 along with one surety.
Regarding the current Indore case, ADCP Dandotiya added, "He came to the station after receiving the notice from the Commission and was present for three hours of questioning. Legal action was taken in accordance with the same." The police are continuing their investigation into the matter.
