Gourav Adarsh Opens Up About Tu Yaa Main's Box Office Performance and Emotional Journey
Actor Gourav Adarsh has candidly addressed the box office performance of his latest film, Tu Yaa Main, acknowledging a slow start while expressing heartfelt gratitude for the love and support from audiences. In a reflective social media post, Adarsh shared powerful stills from the movie and delved into his personal connection with his character, Maruti, as well as his admiration for the film's team.
Gourav's Personal Connection to Character Maruti
Adarsh revealed that the film came to him at a time of personal confusion and helplessness. He wrote, "Tu yaa main came at a time to me where I was feeling confused and helpless reading everything that was being developed. But when I walked out of Abzee Bandekar's insane narration at the Colour Yellow office, I knew I had to be Maruti." He elaborated on why the character felt so personal, citing Maruti's desire to break out and find an identity as something infectious. Adarsh pondered, "Would I ever be able to walk up to someone while owning my fears and let them see me for who I am? Probably not. Probably what I wanted to be. Maruti gave me a chance to be what I always envied. I wanted to be his friend the moment I read about him."
Praise for Director Bejoy Nambiar and Producer Aanand L Rai
Expressing his fandom for director Bejoy Nambiar, Adarsh stated, "Been a big Bejoy fan since day 1. The films he makes and the high-stakes situations that his characters often find themselves in is something I devour." He thanked Nambiar for including him in the project and believing in him as Maruti. Additionally, Adarsh extended gratitude to producer Aanand L Rai, calling him a calm and supportive figure who backed the film wholeheartedly.
Lauding Co-Star Shanaya Kapoor's Performance
Adarsh reserved special praise for his co-star Shanaya Kapoor, describing her as "real and vulnerable." He wrote, "Shanaya Kapoor surprised all of us on set. I saw herself surrendering to the situation and the character. She was so real and vulnerable. Thank you for bringing believability to Avni and for being the best sport on set and off." He also mentioned enjoying the shoot with co-star Ansh, calling him a phenomenal actor and human being.
Acknowledging the Crew and Call for Audience Support
Adarsh emphasized the hard work of the film's crew, stating, "This film is truly made by its crew. Blood, sweat, and tears literally for everyone who worked on this." He named several crew members, including Priya Lahon, Gopika Gulwadi, Remy Dalai, Protekthero, Puja Palan, and Sid Meer, expressing only love and respect for their efforts.
In a plea to audiences, Adarsh highlighted the importance of supporting smaller commercial films. He said, "It's important that people show up in bigger numbers and watch smaller commercial films like ours too because it gives a real chance to other writers and directors to develop films that are clutter-breaking. It encourages producers to back films that are trying to do anything unique. Plus, this one is tailor-made for a big-screen experience." Despite the slow start, he noted feeling the love coming their way and urged viewers to spread the word, humorously adding, "watch us all get destroyed by an 18-foot crocodile."
