Hansika Motwani and Sohael Khaturiya Officially Divorced After Four-Year Marriage
The Bandra Family Court has formally dissolved the marriage of actor Hansika Motwani and businessman Sohael Khaturiya, granting their divorce on March 11. This legal decision brings a definitive end to their four-year relationship, which had been under public scrutiny. The development was confirmed earlier this month by the actor's legal representative, Adnan Shaikh, who provided the official update to media outlets.
Sister-in-Law Nancy James Overwhelmed by Public Attention
Amid the widespread discussion surrounding the divorce, Hansika's estranged sister-in-law, Nancy James, has publicly requested to be excluded from the matter. Nancy, who is currently separated from Hansika's brother Prashant Motwani, revealed she has been inundated with an overwhelming number of calls, messages, and social media tags urging her to comment on the situation.
"After Hansika's divorce I started getting a lot of calls and messages to comment on the development. On social media also I started getting a lot of DMs and tags and people started saying this is karma for Hansika. I really got fed up," Nancy stated in an interview with Hindustan Times.
She emphasized her desire to remain detached from the controversy, explaining, "Honestly, I don't want to involve myself in anyone else's life. My divorce is underway. And I am on a healing journey. I was getting calls and messages for comments, I was fed up so I wrote the message on Stories."
Strained Family Relations and Legal Battles
The relationship between Nancy James and the Motwani family has been contentious for an extended period. In December 2024, Nancy escalated the conflict by filing a formal First Information Report (FIR) against Hansika Motwani and the actor's mother, Jyoti Motwani.
The complaint was registered under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including:
- Section 498A: Allegations of dowry-related cruelty
- Section 323: Charges of voluntarily causing hurt
- Section 352: Accusations of criminal intimidation and intentional insult
In her detailed complaint, Nancy made several serious allegations:
- She claimed to have experienced domestic violence that allegedly contributed to her developing Bell's palsy
- She accused her in-laws of demanding expensive gifts and substantial monetary payments
- She asserted that interference from Hansika and her mother created significant problems in her marriage with Prashant Motwani
- She alleged being pressured to sell her personal apartment
Legal Proceedings and Judicial Responses
The legal confrontation has seen multiple developments in the court system. In February of last year, Hansika and Jyoti Motwani successfully obtained anticipatory bail from the Mumbai Sessions Court, providing them temporary protection from arrest.
Two months later, in April, they escalated their legal defense by approaching the Bombay High Court with a petition seeking to have the FIR quashed entirely. In her court submission, Hansika expressed shock at finding her name included in Nancy's complaint, challenging the validity of the allegations against her.
Reflecting on her own ongoing legal struggle, Nancy stated, "I have been harassed and tortured by this family and I don't want to associate with them anymore. I am therefore seeking divorce and have filed a DV case against my husband, his sister and mother. I hope my divorce puts an end to the ordeal. I am still suffering and on a healing journey."
Nancy's Firm Stance on Future Commentary
Nancy James has made her position unequivocally clear regarding any future discussion of Hansika's divorce or the surrounding speculation. "I have full faith in the judiciary and the legal system of our country. Justice will prevail and once the case reaches its logical conclusion I will speak at length. But right now, I don't want to be dragged in her case or her karma or whatever," she declared before concluding the conversation.
The simultaneous legal proceedings involving both marital dissolutions have created a complex family dynamic that continues to unfold within both the judicial system and public discourse.
