The shooting for actor Harish Kalyan's much-anticipated new film has entered its final stages, bringing excitement among Tamil cinema enthusiasts. Titled Dashamakan, the project is directed by Vineeth Varaprasad and represents the duo's collaboration after their previous successful venture 'Lift'.
Unique Title and Setting
After considerable deliberation about the film's title, the team finally locked Dashamakan, a unique name that has immediately captured fans' attention. The title holds special significance since the movie is set in a famous area of Chennai known for serving delicious non-vegetarian food at remarkably affordable prices.
During the film's first look launch event, Harish Kalyan expressed his enthusiasm about this special occasion. "This marks the first time such an exclusive first look event has been organized for any of my films, and it brings me immense joy," the actor shared with attendees.
Exploring Chennai's Hidden Food Capital
Harish Kalyan elaborated on the film's unique setting and perspective. "While most people recognize the name of the Dashamakan area and are aware of the local residents' lives, very few understand the scale of operations happening there," he revealed.
"The place essentially functions as the capital of non-vegetarian food, supplying various cities with quality products. Our film aims to showcase this hidden world from a fresh viewpoint that audiences haven't experienced before," Kalyan added, highlighting the novel approach the narrative takes.
Transforming into a Rap Artist
One of the most challenging aspects for Harish Kalyan was portraying a rapper character, a role that demanded significant preparation and research. The actor immersed himself in Chennai's rap culture to deliver an authentic performance.
"I dedicated substantial time observing young rappers, understanding their body language, distinctive style, and musical approach," Kalyan explained. "Artists ranging from Yogi B to Hip Hop Adhi to Rahman Sir introduced me to rap music. Today, talented performers like Arivu and Paal Dabba are making waves internationally, and I strived to emulate their genuine rap artistry in my portrayal."
The film features Preity Mukhundhan as the female lead, adding to the project's appeal. Despite the story being rejected by several producers initially, Harish Kalyan embraced it as a personal challenge.
"While numerous films have focused on North Chennai, Dashamakan presents a completely different narrative angle that we believe will strongly resonate with viewers," the actor assured. The production is scheduled for release next year, with more updates promised in the coming months.
