Chris Hemsworth's Parenting Challenge on Avengers: Doomsday Set
Hollywood superstar Chris Hemsworth recently opened up about a highly relatable parenting moment during the production of the upcoming blockbuster Avengers: Doomsday. The actor revealed that getting his teenage daughter, India Rose Hemsworth, to appear in the film required far more than a simple request.
The Teenage Reluctance
During an appearance on The View, Hemsworth laughed about the challenge of working with his 13-year-old daughter, whose priorities have dramatically shifted since her previous appearance in Thor: Love and Thunder. "She's now 13, so she's a teenager, so a bit different to when we shot the other one," Hemsworth explained. "And she walks on set and she's like, 'Ugh, how long is this gonna take?' I was like, 'We haven't even started!'"
After completing their first take, India immediately asked, "'Are we done?'" When Hemsworth informed her they still had "another two or three days" of filming remaining, he recalled her disappointed response: "She's like, 'Aww, God.'"
The Negotiation Process
The actor described his daughter's angsty mood on set, with India retreating to her chair or tent between setups. "And in the end, I had to bribe her to come onto set," Hemsworth admitted. "She's like, 'I'm not coming! I'm not even getting paid! What am I even doing here?' And I told, 'You are getting paid.' She goes, 'Really? You didn't tell me that.'"
Hemsworth explained to the show hosts that he planned to save the money until India turned 18, but she had different ideas. "She goes, 'Nah! Nah, I want some of it now,'" he said, noting that co-director Joe Russo and the entire crew were waiting impatiently. "They're like, '...We gotta get her on set.'"
The Breakthrough Moment
While emphasizing that India wasn't throwing "a tantrum by any means," Hemsworth acknowledged she was becoming "a difficult actor already." Part of her rush stemmed from wanting to attend a Billie Eilish concert scheduled for later that same night.
The turning point came when India asked about purchasing a motorbike. "She goes, '...Could I afford that motorbike that I wanted?'" Hemsworth recalled. "I was like, 'You possibly could.' So a slight negotiation and off she went."
Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled to arrive in theaters on December 18, 2026, promising another epic installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe that now features this memorable behind-the-scenes family story.
