Punjabi Actress Himanshi Khurana Faces Rs 10 Crore Extortion Threat, Files Police Complaint
Himanshi Khurana, a well-known actress from Punjabi cinema and a former contestant of Bigg Boss 13, has filed a formal complaint with the Mohali police after receiving a serious extortion threat. According to officials, the threat involved a demand for Rs 10 crore from a gangster based abroad, highlighting growing concerns over celebrity security in the region.
Police Swiftly Register FIR Under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita
The Mohali police acted promptly upon receiving the complaint from Himanshi Khurana. An FIR was registered on Saturday at the Sohana police station, invoking specific sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The case has been filed under Section 308(4) for extortion and Section 351(3) for criminal intimidation, as confirmed by police authorities.
Superintendent of Police (Investigation), Saurav Jindal, provided details on the incident. He stated, "As per the complaint, the email contained a voice note allegedly sent by a foreign-based gangster demanding Rs 10 crore as extortion money." This revelation underscores the digital nature of the threat, with the email and accompanying voice message becoming key pieces of evidence in the ongoing investigation.
Investigation Underway to Trace Source of Threat
Police have initiated a thorough investigation into the case, focusing on tracing the origin of the email and voice message. Officials are working diligently to identify the source and gather more evidence, with further legal action to be taken as per established procedures. This incident follows a similar pattern observed last month, when Punjabi singer Dilnoor filed a complaint with the Mohali police over a threat targeting popular singer B Praak, also involving a Rs 10 crore extortion demand.
