Kapil Sharma Raises Concerns Over AI's Influence on Film Authenticity

Popular actor and comedian Kapil Sharma has voiced his perspective on the escalating impact of Artificial Intelligence within the film industry. Speaking exclusively to IANS during the Punjabi Icon Awards 2026 ceremony, Sharma emphasized that in contemporary times, discerning between genuine and fabricated content is becoming progressively challenging.

Balancing Technological Progress with Caution

When questioned about the historical portrayal of Punjab in cinema, which some argue has diminished with AI's advent, Sharma was asked to evaluate this as a positive or negative shift. He responded by acknowledging that while technological advancements are beneficial, it is equally crucial to consider the potential adverse effects to mitigate risks effectively.

"This is something the audience will have to understand," Sharma explained. "Today, it is extremely difficult to determine what is real and what is fake. As a technology, AI is good. We are heading towards development. However, we should also keep the downsides of the technology in mind."
