Kapil Sharma on Canada cafe attacks: Parliament discussed

Popular comedian and actor Kapil Sharma has opened up about the multiple attacks on his restaurant in Canada, revealing that the incidents actually led to increased business and prompted discussions in the Canadian parliament.

Three Shooting Incidents at Kap's Cafe

During the trailer launch event for his upcoming film Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2, Kapil Sharma addressed the concerning situation at his eatery called Kap's Cafe located in Surrey, Canada. The establishment became the target of shooting incidents on three separate occasions throughout 2024.

The first attack occurred in July, followed by a second incident in August, and a third shooting in October. Despite these alarming events, Sharma maintained an unexpectedly positive outlook on the situation.

From Local Incident to Parliament Discussion

What began as local criminal activity soon escalated to national attention. Kapil shared that the case reached the federal government level and was actually discussed in the Canadian parliament. This development highlighted the seriousness of the security situation in the area.

"What I feel is that the rules are there, and the police, perhaps, don't have the power to control. But when our case happened, it went to the federal government, and there was a discussion in the Canadian parliament," the comedian remarked during the event.

Unexpected Business Boom and Community Support

In a surprising turn of events, Sharma revealed that each attack actually resulted in increased business for his cafe. "In fact, after every incident, we got a bigger opening at the cafe. So it is ok with me if god is with me," he stated optimistically.

The comedian-actor emphasized the strong support he received from local residents in Surrey. He believes the attacks brought much-needed attention to the area's law and order issues, potentially leading to improvements in local security measures.

"I believe whatever god does, we don't get to know the story behind that. I got calls from a lot of people from there (Surrey) who told me that there were a lot of things happening, but after the firing at my cafe, it became news, and now steps are being taken to improve the law and order situation there," Kapil explained.

Safety Concerns and Future Projects

Despite the troubling incidents abroad, Sharma made it clear that he has never felt unsafe in his home country, particularly in Mumbai. This statement reinforces his connection to India while addressing the security challenges faced by his international business venture.

The actor is currently promoting his upcoming film Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2, which is being directed by Anukalp Goswami. The movie features an ensemble cast including Triptii Dimri, Shanaya Kapoor, Tarun Gahlot, and Ravi Kishan.

Through his experience with the cafe attacks, Kapil Sharma demonstrates a remarkable ability to find silver linings in difficult situations, turning security concerns into opportunities for both business growth and positive community change.
