Kapil Sharma: TV Made Me Lazy, No Hard Work Required on Sofa
Kapil Sharma says TV made him lazy and unfit

Popular comedian and actor Kapil Sharma has candidly admitted that working in television made him lazy and unfit, stating that the medium does not require the same kind of physical hard work. He made these revelations during a recent interview with fellow comedians Bharti Singh and Haarsh Limbachiyaa, who spoke to the cast of his upcoming film Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2.

From Shah Rukh Khan to Kapil: A Launchpad Joke

During the fun interaction, Kapil Sharma humorously addressed filmmakers Abbas-Mustan, who are directing the sequel. Noting that the duo had launched superstar Shah Rukh Khan's career with the 1993 hit Baazigar, Kapil joked about his own launch with their 2015 film Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon. "You launched Shah Rukh Khan and then you made Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2. Did you not find anyone in between to launch? Thank you so much, Abbas Mustan Bhai," Kapil quipped in Hindi, highlighting the long gap and the honour he feels.

The 'Dhele Ki Mehnat' Confession on TV Culture

The conversation took a sincere turn when Haarsh pointed out Kapil's noticeably fitter physique in the new film, jesting that he needed to look convincing to romance multiple heroines. Kapil Sharma is seen with four actresses—Parul Gulati, Ayesha Khan, Tridha Choudhary, and Hira Warina—in the comedy.

In response, Kapil revealed that he was actually in better shape during his 2017 film Firangi, but as the movie flopped, no one noticed. "This time I decided that I will stay in shape whether a film comes my way or not," he stated. He then explained the core reason behind his previous fitness slump: television. "We become lazy on TV. There is no measurement on TV that if you have gained weight, you will not get a project. Work keeps happening, you are sitting on the sofa, there is no hard work (dhele ki mehnat) required there," Kapil admitted. He clarified that while TV work is mentally taxing, it lacks the physical discipline other mediums demand.

Honey Singh's Musical Gift for the Film

In a heartwarming segment, Kapil Sharma shared that rapper and music composer Honey Singh gifted him the song 'Phurr' for Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2. "With a lot of love, he sent me the song. I told him the production team would connect for the commercial terms, but he said he wasn't worried about that and gave me this song as a gift," Kapil recounted. Honey Singh's only request was to shoot the song in Dubai, a condition the team fulfilled, with the singer also featuring in the video.

This interview, conducted in late 2025, showcases a reflective Kapil Sharma, who is now prioritising his health beyond professional requirements and appreciating the creative collaborations that shape his cinematic journey.
