Comedian's Canadian Business Becomes Catalyst for Change

Popular Indian actor-comedian Kapil Sharma has revealed that his recently opened cafe in Canada became the unexpected catalyst for parliamentary discussions about improving law and order in the country. The entertainer's establishment, Kap's Cafe located in Surrey, British Columbia, faced three separate shooting incidents within months of its grand opening.

Timeline of the Troubling Incidents

The cafe first came under attack on July 10, shortly after its inauguration in July. This was followed by two more shooting incidents on August 7 and October 16. Despite the alarming frequency of these attacks, Sharma expressed relief that no one was injured during any of these events.

Speaking at the trailer launch event for his upcoming film "Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2", Sharma addressed the concerning situation. "What I feel is that the rules there and the police perhaps don't have power to control such incidents," the comedian shared with attendees.

From Local Incident to National Discussion

The silver lining in this dangerous situation emerged when the matter reached higher authorities. "But when our case happened, it went to federal government and there was a discussion in Canadian parliament," Sharma revealed, highlighting how his cafe's ordeal brought wider attention to security concerns.

In a surprising turn of events, Sharma noted that business actually improved after each incident. "In fact, after every firing incident, we got a bigger opening at the cafe. So it is all ok if god is with me," he added with his characteristic optimism.

The 43-year-old actor received overwhelming support from the local community following the attacks. "I got calls from a lot of people from there who told me that there were a lot of things happening but after the firing at my cafe, it became news and now steps are being taken to improve the law and order situation there," Sharma explained.

Contrasting Security Experiences

When comparing his experiences across countries, Sharma expressed strong confidence in India's security apparatus. "I never felt unsafe in Mumbai or in our country. There is no other city like Mumbai," the comedian affirmed, drawing a clear distinction between his sense of security in India versus the incidents he faced in Canada.

Throughout the challenging period, no group has claimed responsibility for the attacks on Kap's Cafe. The incidents have nonetheless succeeded in drawing governmental attention to broader security issues in the region, potentially leading to meaningful improvements in public safety measures.
