Fifteen years after Kareena Kapoor Khan's iconic size zero transformation for the 2008 film 'Tashan,' her dietician Rujuta Diwekar is setting the record straight about what really went into achieving that legendary look. Contrary to popular belief, it wasn't about extreme dieting or sacrificing traditional Indian food.
The Truth Behind Size Zero Revelation
In a recent YouTube podcast interview with Janice Sequiera, Rujuta Diwekar clarified that neither she nor Kareena coined the term 'size zero.' The phrase unexpectedly emerged from a media interview and quickly became associated with the actress's transformed physique. "Size zero is not a term that I or Bebo coined. It just happened to come from some media interview," revealed Diwekar.
The nutritionist emphasized that Kareena's transformation was simply about getting into good shape rather than dramatically changing her body size. Interestingly, Kareena filmed both 'Tashan' and 'Jab We Met' simultaneously, showcasing different body types for different roles while maintaining her healthy eating habits.
Parathas and White Makkhan During Size Zero Phase
Breaking stereotypes about Bollywood fitness transformations, Kareena maintained her traditional Punjabi diet throughout her size zero journey. In a conversation with Vicky Kaushal for The Hollywood Reporter India, the actress confessed that she continued eating paratha with white makkhan for breakfast even while achieving her much-talked-about physique.
Diwekar highlighted how working with Kareena helped mainstream the idea that Indian foods like dal, chawal, and parathas could coexist with fitness goals. "It helped us mainstream the fact that she ate dal, chawal and parathas and looked the way she did," the dietician noted, emphasizing the importance of sustainable eating practices over fad diets.
Fitness Beyond Forty: Kareena's Lasting Wellness Philosophy
What's more remarkable than Kareena's 2008 transformation is her maintained fitness into her 40s. Diwekar, who began working with the actress before the Tashan era, praised Kareena's consistent approach to health and lifestyle. Kareena was 27 during her size zero phase and now in her 40s continues to look fresh and fit while following her heart when it comes to food choices.
The dietician defined true health as having "a complete life not just in terms of how you look but also what you do in your life – relationships, work, your children, the way you conduct your life." She expressed gratitude for Kareena's openness in discussing their work together, noting the actress didn't need to publicly credit her but chose to do so anyway.
This revelation comes as a refreshing perspective in an industry often associated with extreme dieting and unsustainable fitness practices. Kareena Kapoor Khan's journey demonstrates that traditional Indian foods and balanced living can create lasting wellness rather than quick fixes that fade with trends.
