Mahesh Bhatt, Pooja Bhatt Recall 'Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahin' on Indian Idol

The upcoming episode of Indian Idol is set to be an emotional affair as veteran filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt and his daughter, actress Pooja Bhatt, take a nostalgic journey down memory lane, revisiting moments from their iconic film 'Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahin'.

A Strict Director and a Fun Memory

During a candid interaction, Pooja Bhatt revealed that she was on the receiving end of her father's strict direction. She humorously recalled how Mahesh Bhatt would shout "POOJA, SHUT UP!" across the set instead of calling for silence, adding a lighthearted touch to the memory.

Mahesh Bhatt shared that he was in his 40s when he directed the film, while Pooja Bhatt proudly reflected on being just 19 years old at the time. The duo fondly recalled behind-the-scenes moments, including the much-loved 'tarbooja ka beej' scene and the energetic atmosphere during the shoot of the film's title track.

A Magical Moment on Set

Adding to the nostalgia, Mahesh Bhatt recalled how the first scene of the first schedule began with the song, and the entire unit joined in to sing 'Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahin' in chorus. Pooja revealed that this collective enthusiasm boosted her confidence and helped her deliver the shot.

Describing the visual magic of the scene, Mahesh Bhatt noted that the lighting formed a halo behind Pooja, calling it a 'magical moment' in filmmaking. Pooja further shared her gratitude, saying, "I am privileged to have him as a father and also to have him as a director. These songs were written by someone, created by someone, shot by someone. That light that you saw behind my hair was created by someone like Pravin Bhatt."

Acknowledging the Team Behind the Scenes

Pooja Bhatt emphasized the collaborative nature of filmmaking, stating, "We actors are just lucky to be in the right place at the right time. And we take all the credit, as if we wrote the song or sang it. But when a film flops, it becomes the filmmaker's responsibility. That's why I am proud of 'Jadu Ka Nasha' because I produced that film." She also acknowledged the contributions of technicians, including cinematographer Pravin Bhatt, and stressed that while actors often receive the spotlight, the real magic lies in teamwork.

The episode promises to be a heartfelt tribute to the film's legacy, offering viewers a glimpse into the bond between father and daughter and the collaborative spirit that brought 'Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahin' to life.
