Mallika Sukumaran's Powerful Stand Against Online Trolls
The controversy surrounding Prithviraj Sukumaran's latest Malayalam film 'Vilayath Buddha' has taken a dramatic turn as the actor's mother, veteran actress Mallika Sukumaran, entered the fray with a sharp response to cyber trolls targeting the movie and its cast.
While the film continues to attract audiences to theaters, organized cyberattacks against the production have sparked intense debates across social media platforms. The situation escalated to the point where the film's producer was forced to take legal action.
Mallika's Fiery Facebook Response
Mallika Sukumaran took to Facebook to express her frustration with what she described as anonymous online attackers. In a strongly worded post in Malayalam, she targeted those hiding behind fake profiles while criticizing the film.
"Among the so-called heroic warriors who make money without even flinching, who lock their profiles after putting money in their pockets and displaying photos of Krishna, some woman, or an innocent child, I feel respect towards those personalities who reacted in support of Shammi," she wrote.
Her message was clearly aimed at individuals and groups launching coordinated attacks against 'Vilayath Buddha' and its team members. The senior actress's intervention has become a major talking point in the ongoing controversy.
Shammi Thilakan's Heartfelt Appreciation
Along with her statement, Mallika Sukumaran shared a video featuring actor Shammi Thilakan, who plays a significant role in the film. In the emotional clip, Thilakan expressed deep gratitude toward Prithviraj Sukumaran for his support.
"It is only because Prithviraj was the hero that I was able to play the role of Bhaskaran Mash in Vilayath Buddha," Thilakan revealed. He emphasized that Prithviraj demonstrated exceptional generosity by offering him a character with substantial screen presence.
The veteran actor acknowledged that such opportunities are rare in the industry, stating he would remain "indebted to Raju (Prithviraj) and the film's director for the rest of my life." This heartfelt testimony highlights the collaborative spirit behind the film's making.
Legal Action and Audience Support
The cyberattacks against 'Vilayath Buddha' originated from certain YouTube channels and quickly spiraled into a major controversy. The criticism contained religious and political elements designed to damage the film's reputation.
Producer Sandeep Senan responded by filing an official complaint with the Cyber Cell. The legal action addresses what the production team describes as hate propaganda targeting the film and its crew members.
Despite the online attacks, the film has maintained steady audience turnout in theaters. The conflict has drawn attention to the growing problem of organized trolling in the Indian entertainment industry and the need for stronger measures to protect artists and creators.
