In a separate post shared on X (formerly Twitter), they wrote: "When the Big M chooses a story, it becomes history. Super excited to welcome Megastar @mammukka onboard #D55! We are honoured! Expanding Cast of D55

The cast of Dhanush's 'D55' continues to grow with this significant addition. This announcement follows closely on the heels of the makers confirming that popular actress Sai Pallavi has also joined the film's ensemble. Additionally, Sreeleela, who recently appeared in Sudha Kongara's 'Parasakthi', is part of this star-studded project.

Mammootty's Return to Tamil Cinema

'D55' marks Mammootty's much-awaited return to Tamil cinema after a seven-year hiatus. His last Tamil film was the critically acclaimed 'Peranbu', directed by Ram, which received widespread appreciation for its sensitive storytelling and powerful performances.

This project also signifies Mammootty's reunion with Dhanush after a considerable gap. Their previous collaboration dates back to 2013 when Dhanush made a special cameo appearance in Mammootty's Malayalam film 'Proprietors: Kammath & Kammath'.

What's Next for the Megastar?

Beyond 'D55', Mammootty has been actively filming for 'Padayaatra' with legendary filmmaker Adoor Gopalakrishnan. The Malayalam film commenced production on January 23 and represents their fourth collaboration together, coming 32 years after their previous work 'Vidheyan'.

Adoor Gopalakrishnan shared his thoughts about working with Mammootty again, telling Manorama News: "As the scripting was going on, only Mammootty's face came to my mind for the central character. I felt that he would be the perfect person for the role. This will be the fourth time he plays the male lead in one of my films. I've never worked with any other lead actor that many times."

The film's shooting is currently progressing smoothly, with a supporting cast that includes talented actors such as Indrans, Grace Antony, Sreeshma Chandran, and Zeenath AP.

This exciting development in Mammootty's career showcases his continued relevance and appeal across multiple film industries in India, promising audiences compelling performances in both Tamil and Malayalam cinema in the coming months.
