Milind Soman Compares Working Experiences in South Indian and Hindi Cinema
Veteran actor and renowned model Milind Soman, with extensive experience across multiple industries including modeling and acting in India, recently shared insightful observations about the contrasting work environments in South Indian and Hindi cinema. In a candid interview, Soman highlighted the distinct differences he has encountered throughout his career.
South Indian Cinema: A Relaxed and Efficient Atmosphere
While discussing his upcoming Tamil web series 'Kaattaan' with IANS, Soman expressed that working in South Indian cinema feels significantly more relaxed. "That's what I feel. There are not many things that you have to navigate or negotiate," he stated. Although he personally doesn't engage in such negotiations, he noted the overall smooth workflow.
Elaborating further, Soman emphasized the efficiency of South Indian film sets. "It is much easier to get things done and get them done on time. Things move quickly and people are able to negotiate any kind of obstacles that come up, because shooting is otherwise and generally never easy," he explained. He specifically praised the Tamil industry for its collaborative spirit, where everyone contributes seamlessly to each scene.
Hindi Cinema: Varied Experiences Dependent on Producers
Turning to his experiences in Hindi cinema, Soman acknowledged that generalizations are difficult. "You cannot really generalise because every unit is different. A lot of it depends on the producer. The producer largely decides how the team works together," he shared. This variability contrasts with the more consistent environment he finds in South Indian productions.
Comparing the two industries directly, Soman confessed that South Indian films and TV shows were much easier for him to work with overall compared to Hindi cinema. His remarks shed light on the structural and cultural differences that impact filmmaking processes across India's diverse cinematic landscape.
Upcoming Project: 'Kaattaan' Release Details
On the professional front, Milind Soman's new Tamil web series 'Kaattaan' is set for release on March 27. The series will be available for streaming exclusively on JioHotstar. Soman stars alongside acclaimed actor Vijay Sethupathi in this highly anticipated project, marking another significant step in his cross-regional career.
Soman's reflections come at a time when Indian cinema is increasingly transcending regional boundaries, with actors frequently working across multiple language industries. His insights provide valuable perspective on the working dynamics that shape film production in different parts of the country.
