Mumbai Police Traces Scooter in Rohit Shetty Firing Case

Mumbai Police Make Key Breakthrough in Rohit Shetty Firing Case

In a significant development in the investigation into the firing incident at Bollywood director Rohit Shetty's Mumbai residence, the Mumbai Police have successfully traced the vehicle used in the attack. The police have identified the Honda Dio scooter involved and linked it to a man from Pune, marking a crucial step forward in the probe.

Scooter Traced to Pune Man and Sold to Accused

According to sources within the Mumbai Police, the Pune man sold the alleged scooter just a few days prior to the incident. The buyer was Aditya Gayaki, one of the individuals who has since been arrested in connection with the case. The transaction was completed for an amount of ₹30,000, and as part of the sale, the Pune man even obtained Gayaki's signature on a plain piece of paper, which is now under police scrutiny.

Chain of Events and Instructions from Shubham Lonkar

The investigation has revealed a detailed chain of events leading up to the firing. Aditya Gayaki, along with another arrested person named Samarth Pomaji, transported the scooter to Mumbai. They left it at a pre-arranged location in the Juhu area, following direct instructions from Shubham Lonkar. Police sources indicate that throughout the period between purchasing the vehicle and bringing it to Mumbai, the accused were completely unaware of the shooter's identity. It was Lonkar who later instructed the shooter to pick up the scooter from the designated spot and carry out the firing.

Similar Modus Operandi in Previous Crimes

Authorities have noted that this case follows a similar modus operandi observed in previous criminal activities. The pattern involves employing several small groups to execute a single crime, a tactic that complicates investigations by dispersing responsibility and knowledge among different individuals. This insight is helping police connect dots and understand the broader criminal network involved.

Legal Proceedings and Denial of Gang Links

Meanwhile, five people detained in connection with the case have been presented before the Criminal Court. In a statement to ANI, the lawyer representing the accused asserted that they have no connection with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. The lawyer claimed that the accused have no knowledge about the firing incident and are ready to cooperate with the investigation. The police have been granted a 4-day custody of the accused to further interrogate them and gather evidence.

Recap of the Firing Incident and Police Response

The incident occurred on Sunday when assailants fired four rounds outside the residence of the renowned Bollywood film director, Rohit Shetty. Immediately after the firing, heavy police security was deployed around Shetty's residential tower in Juhu. Police and forensic teams quickly reached the spot, secured the premises, and conducted a detailed examination to collect evidence.

Officials have confirmed that an investigation is actively underway, with all possible angles being explored to identify those responsible for the firing. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident, but it has raised concerns about security in high-profile areas.

The Mumbai Police continue to work diligently on the case, leveraging this new lead to unravel the full extent of the plot and ensure justice is served.
