An Instagram Tribute Filled With Emotion

Taking to Instagram, Mumtaz posted several rare behind-the-scenes photographs from the sets of their iconic film. She accompanied the images with a heartfelt message that read, "Dharam Ji you were and you are always with us! May you rest in peace." This public expression of grief came shortly after the industry lost one of its most beloved stars.

Although 'Loafer' marked their first and only collaboration, the film remains etched in the memories of Bollywood enthusiasts. Directed by the renowned A. Bhimsingh, the movie featured an impressive supporting cast including talented actors like Om Prakash, Premnath, and K. N. Singh in prominent roles.

Remembering the Classic Film 'Loafer'

The 1973 film 'Loafer' told the engaging story of Ranjeet, portrayed by Dharmendra, who played a carefree pickpocket working for a criminal organization. The plot took an interesting turn when his character falls in love with Anju, played by Mumtaz, unaware that she was secretly spying on him for a rival gang leader.

The movie gained significant commercial success, becoming the seventh highest-grossing Bollywood film of 1973. Its memorable music, composed by the legendary duo Laxmikant-Pyarelal, contributed greatly to its popularity and enduring legacy.

Bollywood Mourns a Legend

Dharmendra passed away at the age of 89 on November 24, just weeks before what would have been his 90th birthday on December 8. The iconic actor had been admitted to Mumbai's Breach Candy Hospital after experiencing breathlessness and was discharged on November 12 to continue treatment at home.

Earlier the same day, other notable personalities including Ajay Devgn, Farah Khan, Ananya Panday, Kajol, Varun Dhawan, Kriti Sanon, Jackky Bhagnani, Rakul Preet Singh, and directors Abbas Mastan were also seen visiting the Deol household, demonstrating the widespread respect and affection the industry held for the veteran actor.
