Rahul Dev Explains Why Mahesh Babu Said Bollywood Can't Afford Him
Rahul Dev on Mahesh Babu: Bollywood Can't Afford Him

Tollywood superstar Mahesh Babu is one of the biggest stars in the country, enjoying a massive following in the Northern states thanks to his dubbed Hindi films. However, despite his pan-India appeal, he has never acted in a Hindi film. Recently, actor Rahul Dev commented on why Mahesh Babu might have once made the statement, 'Bollywood can't afford him.'

Rahul Dev on Mahesh Babu's Statement

Rahul Dev worked with Mahesh Babu in the 2002 film 'Takkari Donga'. In a conversation with Hindi Rush, he shared insights about the 'Varanasi' actor and his journey in Telugu cinema. Rahul Dev noted that director Trivikram Srinivas and Mahesh Babu created films that resonated deeply with audiences, blending commercial entertainment with sensible storytelling. According to Rahul Dev, such cinema is missing in Hindi films. He observed that Hindi cinema often leans towards two extremes: dark, intense films or remakes of Hollywood movies.

During the interview, Rahul Dev was asked about Mahesh Babu's old statement where he said Bollywood 'can't afford' him. Reacting with a smile, Rahul Dev said, 'Unko zuban nahi aati, sahi baat toh ye hai' (He doesn't know the language, that's the real truth). He explained that the real reason might simply be that Mahesh Babu is not comfortable speaking Hindi.
