Rajpal Yadav Reveals Jail Experience and Philosophical Outlook in Farah Khan Vlog
Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav recently made headlines by surrendering at Tihar Jail in connection with a long-standing cheque bounce case. After being released on bail, he joined director-choreographer Farah Khan on her YouTube vlog for a candid conversation about his experiences and resilience.
A Heartfelt Reunion and Touching Moments
During the vlog, Farah Khan visited the home of Rajpal Yadav's manager and confidant, Sakett Saawhney, accompanied by her longtime cook, Dilip. Prior to the meeting, Farah expressed admiration, stating, "He is the most talented, extremely funny and one of the most veteran actors in the industry." Upon meeting, she greeted Rajpal with a warm embrace, calling him "the biggest star" and prompting Dilip to touch his feet as a sign of respect.
Farah inquired about his well-being, noting it had been years since they last met. Rajpal shared that he had prepared a special treat for her, but she responded, "I am already feeling happy seeing you move freely," gently alluding to his recent jail time. This led to a deeper discussion about his incarceration.
Insights into Jail Life and Discipline
Curious about his treatment, Farah asked, "Is everything okay now? How were you treated there? Like any regular guy or were you getting any special treatment because of your stardom? Did you have your fans there?" Rajpal replied philosophically, "I won't say there were fans or not, but the discipline and legalities that are created for that space were thoroughly followed."
Impressed by his positive attitude, Farah remarked, "You are taking it in such a philosophical way. You are not showing any bitterness. Were you feeling frustrated or angry with all this?" Rajpal, who hails from a humble background, responded, "No, I have learnt to live in all kinds of conditions." Farah agreed, adding, "He is always laughing and smiling. And always giving every actor a run for their money."
Resilience Fueled by Indian Cinema
Rajpal Yadav attributed his strength during tough times to the power of Indian cinema. He explained, "Just imagine Farah, if there are 800 crore people in the world, the Indian cinema rules at least 600 crore hearts. Because of this medium, even those who don't recognise me by name know me by my face and are aware that I am a Bollywood actor. Cinema has given me a lot. Hence, if I am in some kind of problem today, I will stay within the cinema community and cooperate in all kinds of procedures until the truth comes out."
Jail Routine and Support from the Industry
When asked about his daily activities in jail, Rajpal clarified, "Nothing at all. Luckily, things didn't boil down to that. But, they kept me with proper discipline, following the rules and being prisoned." Farah then inquired about the support he received upon release, to which he affirmed, "The entire world was standing with me." He specifically mentioned actor Sonu Sood as one of his earliest supporters.
Rajpal expressed gratitude to many, saying, "Sonu Sood, Tej Pratap Yadav, Indrajeet Rao, Amit Sharma, and there are also fifty others who have equally helped but never came out on social media or publicised it. They helped physically, emotionally, financially, but never came out in open. So, the people who for their own sake came out on social media, I thank them too. But the ones, who without ever coming out on social media to help me out, I thank them all."
Sonu Sood's Campaign and Rajpal's Work Ethic
Sonu Sood had launched a campaign on X when Rajpal entered Tihar Jail, highlighting his financial struggles and calling for industry support. He posted, "Rajpal Yadav is a gifted actor who has given years of unforgettable work to our industry. Sometimes life turns unfair... He will be part of my film, and I believe this is the moment for all of us... producers, directors, colleagues to stand together."
However, Rajpal clarified his stance on work, stating, "Please get over the misconception that I need to keep asking for work. And there is no shame in asking for work. I live through my job, cinema is my passion, and I work in such a way that I get four times more work. I work even on vacations. Work doesn't find me, it has lived with me for the last 11 years." Sonu Sood responded thoughtfully, saying, "Happy for him. I didn't say he needs work. I said 'Sign him and pay advances because he deserves it.'"
This vlog not only shed light on Rajpal Yadav's personal journey but also highlighted the solidarity within the Bollywood community during challenging times.
