Ram Charan's 'Peddi' Extended Version Released After Controversy

Ram Charan's film 'Peddi', directed by Buchi Babu Sana, has faced significant criticism for its portrayal of Janhvi Kapoor's character. In response, the team announced edits, and now an extended version of the movie will hit theaters from June 17.

Extended Version Coming to Theatres

According to a Hindustan Times report, the new version includes three scenes not present in the original theatrical cut. This decision follows audience concerns about how Janhvi Kapoor's character Achiyyamma was depicted.

Three Deleted Scenes Added Back

Speaking at a recent success meet, Buchi Babu revealed that editing for the updated version is complete. "We have already edited it," the director said. "They will be added from this Wednesday. We have added a total of three scenes. There will be scenes related to the heroine and also one scene for Jagapathi Babu. All the missing elements will be included."

The director explained that two restored scenes are connected to Janhvi Kapoor's character, helping audiences understand Achiyyamma better. "There are two more scenes related to Janhvi's character. After watching them, the audience will connect even more with the character," he said. "I believe that with that, Janhvi's character will reach another level." An additional sequence featuring Jagapathi Babu will also be included.

'Peddi' Controversy

'Peddi' received backlash on social media regarding scenes involving Achiyyamma. Internet users felt her character lacked importance and was objectified with body shots. Criticism also targeted romantic scenes where Ram Charan's character Peddi kisses Achiyamma without consent.

Following the outcry, Buchi Babu Sana issued a public apology and assured audiences their concerns were being taken seriously. The film stars Ram Charan, Janhvi Kapoor, Shiva Rajkumar, Jagapathi Babu, Boman Irani, and Divyenndu, with music by A.R. Rahman.
