The excitement surrounding Bollywood's next big espionage thriller has reached fever pitch as Ranveer Singh's highly anticipated film 'Dhurandhar' finally gets confirmed release dates for both theatrical and digital platforms.
Mark Your Calendars: Dhurandhar Release Schedule
Cinema lovers can witness Ranveer Singh's spy avatar on the big screen starting December 5, 2025, when 'Dhurandhar' makes its theatrical debut. Following its cinema run, the film will transition to digital platforms with Netflix officially acquiring the post-theatrical streaming rights.
The espionage thriller is scheduled to begin its exclusive streaming on Netflix from January 30, 2026, making it one of the major OTT releases in early 2026. This strategic release window allows the film to maximize its box office potential before reaching global audiences on the streaming giant.
Star-Studded Cast and Gripping Espionage Plot
'Dhurandhar' brings together an impressive ensemble cast that includes some of Bollywood's most respected names. Alongside lead actor Ranveer Singh, the film features Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, R. Madhavan, and Arjun Rampal in pivotal roles, creating one of the most powerful star casts assembled for an Indian spy thriller.
Ranveer Singh takes center stage as 'The Wrath of God,' portraying a fearless Indian intelligence agent on a dangerous Black Ops mission. The film's narrative draws inspiration from covert operations conducted by India's Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) and is set in Pakistan's volatile Lyari region.
The plot follows Ranveer's character as he attempts to infiltrate and dismantle organized crime and terrorism networks, promising audiences high-stakes espionage action and thrilling sequences that will keep them on the edge of their seats.
Director Clarifies Film is Not Based on Real Hero
Following the film's announcement, speculation grew among fans that Ranveer Singh's character might be inspired by real-life hero Major Mohit Sharma, who famously went undercover as Iftikhar Bhatt to infiltrate Hizbul Mujahideen in the early 2000s.
Director Aditya Dhar directly addressed these rumors through social media, providing an official clarification to Major Mohit's brother. "Hi, sir, our film Dhurandhar is not based on the life of braveheart Major Mohit Sharma AC(P) SM," Dhar stated unequivocally.
The director further added, "I assure you, if we do make a biopic on Mohit sir in the future, we will do it with full consent and in complete consultation with the family, and in a way that truly honours his sacrifice for the nation and the legacy it has left for all of us."
This confirmation establishes that 'Dhurandhar' is entirely a work of fiction within the espionage thriller genre, not a biographical portrayal of any real individual.
With its December 2025 theatrical release and January 2026 Netflix premiere, 'Dhurandhar' is poised to become one of the most talked-about Bollywood productions of the coming years, combining top-tier talent with a gripping spy narrative that promises to captivate audiences worldwide.
