Ridhi Dogra Embraces New Challenge with Reality Show 'The 50'

Actress Ridhi Dogra, known for her versatile work across television, OTT platforms, and films, is currently making waves as a contestant on the reality show 'The 50'. In an exclusive conversation with Times of India TV, she delved into her motivations for joining the program and candidly addressed issues like online trolling and comparisons.

Exploring New Avenues and Setting the Tone for the Year

Reflecting on her career trajectory, Ridhi explained that taking on 'The 50' aligns with her natural inclination to explore diverse paths. "When you look at my journey and the way I work, you’ll see that I’ve always explored different paths," she stated. "I’ve simply moved across mediums and taken up varied kinds of work, so trying new things feels natural to me."

She emphasized her enjoyment of variety and involvement in different platforms, having worked in television, OTT, and films. While reality shows can often be intimidating, Ridhi found this one to be distinct due to its fresh concept, unique format, and duration. "All of this fits well with where I am in my career right now," she noted. "Since it’s the start of the year, I felt it was the right time to do something new and bold and set the tone for the rest of the year."

Navigating Anxiety and Showcasing Vulnerability

The actress admitted that the show's new format makes her anxious, but she views it as an opportunity for personal growth. "I wouldn’t call myself shy, but I am an introvert and not someone who talks a lot in big groups," Ridhi shared. "With my close friends, I can be dramatic and expressive, but otherwise, the nervousness is very real."

She expressed uncertainty about the other contestants, which adds to the nerve-wracking experience. However, Ridhi sees this as the perfect moment to push herself beyond her comfort zone. "People often see me as a strong performer and a strong personality, and that’s what they usually take away from my interviews too," she said. "But I like that this gives me a chance to show a different side of me."

Ridhi aims to reveal her vulnerabilities to the audience and media, entering the show as her true self. She believes that one reality show can more effectively showcase her personality than multiple interviews or podcasts. "This isn’t like the usual reality shows where contestants feel trapped," she explained. "It’s closer to Khatron Ke Khiladi, which I’ve done before, and that’s why I’m really looking forward to it."

Addressing Social Media Trolling and Maintaining Integrity

When questioned about handling fan wars and social media trolling—common pitfalls of reality shows—Ridhi emphasized her self-awareness and commitment to authenticity. "I know who I am, and that’s what I want people to see," she asserted. "I’m a genuinely nice person, and I want others to understand that."

She acknowledged that people often label and compare individuals, but she remains secure in her identity. "Maybe I am like some people, but I still know my true self," Ridhi stated. She mentioned that many friends declined the show due to insecurities about being compared in a group of 50, but she feels confident in herself.

"Even if I’m standing in a room with 49 others and it gets loud, my personality won’t get lost," she declared. "I won’t turn into someone else. You’ll see me as I truly am, standing with honesty and integrity."

Ridhi concluded by affirming that she doesn't feel the need to prove anything. "I’m joining to enjoy the format, understand the experience, and push myself, and I’m ready to do that," she said, highlighting her focus on personal enjoyment and growth over external validation.
