Sangeetha Sringeri on Scuba Diving: A Transformative Experience with Mom
Sangeetha Sringeri: Scuba Diving Transformed My Mom and Me

For Kannada actor Sangeetha Sringeri, scuba diving goes beyond being just an adventure sport. It is an experience that can shift one's perspective on life. Recently, during a film shoot in Mangaluru, the actor shared that transformative moment with her mother, Bhavani Shiva Kumar, who went on her first-ever scuba dive in Murudeshwar.

A Mother's Zest for Life

Sangeetha says her mother has always had a zest for life and a desire to try new things. "She is very lively and wants to experience a lot in life. Coming from a small town like Sringeri, she didn't have the chance to explore much while growing up. She got married early, and although being married to a military person gave her opportunities to travel, experiences like scuba diving are something even our generation hasn't fully explored."

A Lifetime Memory

What seemed like an exciting plan also brought anxiety. "She is 51, and I was nervous about it. Friends my age have panicked and backed out before, so I kept wondering — will she be able to breathe calmly, understand the process, and handle the pressure? I prayed that everything would go smoothly." The outcome, she says, was unforgettable. "Mom was so happy when she came out, kept talking about how beautiful it was — the joy on her face is priceless. It became a lifetime memory," says Sangeetha.

She encourages everyone to embrace new opportunities. "As long as we are breathing and able to walk, we should grab the opportunity to try something new and different."

Scuba Diving: A Game Changer

Having discovered scuba diving six years ago, Sangeetha describes it as a deeply transformative experience. "When I tried it for the first time, I felt it was a game changer. The way you look at life changes completely. No matter how much I explain it, words fall short — it's intense and profound," she says, adding, "Your eyes and mind absorb the life around you."
