Filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj has unveiled the first look of his highly anticipated new film, O'Romeo, marking a gritty reunion with actor Shahid Kapoor. The promo, released on the morning of Saturday, January 10, 2026, presents a dark and violent interpretation of unrequited love, with Kapoor embodying a gangster Romeo whose world is defined by aggression.
A Gangster's Love and Fury
The one-minute-thirty-five-second teaser opens with Shahid Kapoor in a deceptively calm setting, lounging on what appears to be a yacht. The tranquillity is instantly shattered as he channels a fierce, Kabir Singh-coded intensity, cursing, "Who the f**k is messing with me?" The narrative quickly escalates into chaos, showcasing his character surrounded by his gang, laughing maniacally while firing guns and slashing at enemies without restraint. In a bold move, he breaks the fourth wall to directly challenge the audience, asking, "Is there any other warrior left?"
An Ensemble Cast of Contrasts
Beyond Kapoor's central, volatile performance, Vishal Bhardwaj offers glimpses of a formidable supporting cast. Veteran actor Nana Patekar is seen with a gun, humorously crooning the classic "Dhak Dhak Karne Laga." Vikrant Massey appears with long hair and a broken nose, portraying a character with wide-eyed romanticism. Disha Patani and Tamannaah Bhatia make brief but notable appearances.
The teaser also introduces Avinash Tiwari as a chiselled warrior, powerfully wielding a sword in a grand hall amid cheering onlookers. However, a poignant highlight comes from veteran actress Farida Jalal, who delivers a line dripping with Bhardwaj's signature poetic darkness: "Rise in love, you are a Romeo. Drown in it, and you are a moron."
The Juliet and The Clash
The violent tapestry of the teaser is punctuated by a moment of potential tenderness, revealing the story's Juliet. Tripti Dimri is introduced as the object of Shahid's character's gaze, hinting at a love-at-first-sight moment amidst the surrounding brutality. The film is strategically slated for a Valentine's Day weekend release on February 13, 2026.
This sets the stage for a box office clash, as O'Romeo will go head-to-head with Bejoy Nambiar's Tu Yaa Main, starring Adarsh Gourav and Shanaya Kapoor, which also promises a darkly twisted narrative on love.
