Shreyas Talpade Unveils Motion Poster for Upcoming Marathi Film 'Mardini'
The motion poster for Shreyas Talpade's highly anticipated Marathi film 'Mardini' has been recently unveiled, offering audiences a tantalizing glimpse into what promises to be an intense and emotionally charged cinematic experience. The film is officially slated for release on July 3, 2026, marking another significant milestone in Talpade's flourishing career as a producer, a role he has grown deeply passionate about over the years.
Shreyas Talpade's Journey into Film Production
In an exclusive conversation, Shreyas Talpade opened up about his transformative journey into film production, revealing how it began and why the creative process now excites him just as much as acting. "To be very honest, I'm loving every moment of it," Shreyas expressed with genuine enthusiasm. He extended heartfelt gratitude to veteran filmmaker Subhash Ghai for his pivotal role in this transition. "I thank Subhash Ghai sir for pushing me and my wife, Deepti, into production with our first film, 'Sanai Chaughade.' After that, yes, we haven't produced much, but whatever we have produced, touch wood, God has been kind, and we've received a great response to all of it."
For Shreyas, production is not merely about financially backing a film but involves being intricately involved in every stage of its creation. "It's the entire process, like selecting a story, developing it, and getting actors on board, along with writers and a director. Then you see it slowly take shape, you begin shooting, and eventually go through post-production. That entire journey is something I'm totally falling in love with," he elaborated. Known primarily as an accomplished actor, Shreyas admitted that he once believed nothing could surpass the thrill of performing. "Earlier, I used to feel there is nothing that can beat acting. But production is slowly inching towards that 'which one is better' space," he shared with a smile. "As actors, we go on set, do our part, learn our lines, deliver our dialogues, and step away because you don't want to interfere with the director's or producer's work. But as a producer, you're thinking about every little aspect of filmmaking and the film business. That's very exciting."
He also highlighted the unparalleled anticipation surrounding a film's release. "The whole excitement of making a film, releasing it, and then waiting for people to react to it, that feeling is very satisfying and amazing," he confessed, underscoring the unique rewards of his dual role in the industry.
Insights into the Film 'Mardini'
Discussing 'Mardini', Shreyas described the film as a powerful and emotionally rooted narrative. "Broadly, it's about a mother who gets cheated, and then what she does to correct that. That's the story in one line," he revealed. "The moment I read the one-liner, I really loved it, and we decided this should be our next production." The film boasts a strong ensemble cast featuring talented actors such as Prarthana Behre, Jitendra Joshi, Abhijit Khandekar, Mayra Vaikul, and Rajesh Bhosale. Praising them as a "phenomenal set of actors," Shreyas credited the team for bringing immense depth and credibility to the compelling narrative.
'Mardini' is directed by Ajay Baikar, marking his debut as a feature film director after a successful stint in television. Shreyas emphasized that nurturing new talent has always been a core philosophy of his production house. "With our first production, we introduced Sai Tamhankar, Chinmay Mandlekar, Shruti Marathe, and Anita Date, all of whom are big names in Marathi cinema today. We are extremely proud of that," he stated proudly. He continued, "With our second film, we introduced Sameer Patil as a director and Pushpam Gawde as a DOP. And now, with 'Mardini,' we are introducing Ajay Baikar as a director to the world of cinema," he concluded with a warm smile, highlighting his commitment to fostering emerging talent in the film industry.
