Wedding Celebrations Abruptly Stopped Due to Medical Emergency
The much-awaited wedding celebrations of Indian women's cricket vice-captain Smriti Mandhana came to an unexpected halt on Sunday in Sangli, Maharashtra, when her father, Shrinivas Mandhana, suffered a serious health crisis. The ceremony was immediately postponed as the cricketer prioritized her father's recovery over the wedding festivities.
Medical Details of Shrinivas Mandhana's Condition
Initial concerns about a heart attack were later clarified by the family physician, Dr. Naman Shah. Shrinivas Mandhana was diagnosed with angina after experiencing left-sided chest pain. Medical tests revealed elevated cardiac enzyme levels and high blood pressure, requiring immediate hospital observation.
Dr. Shah explained that doctors are closely monitoring his condition and may perform angiography if the situation worsens. The medical team is taking all necessary precautions to ensure his stable recovery.
Fiancé Also Hospitalized in Stressful Turn of Events
In a dramatic development following the father's hospitalization, Mandhana's fiancé Palash Muchhal was also admitted to hospital with viral symptoms and acidity issues. While his condition was not considered serious, he received comprehensive medical attention including IV drip, ECG, and other tests.
After initial treatment in Sangli, Palash was transferred to Mumbai for rest and recovery under his family's supervision. His mother, Amita Muchhal, revealed the depth of her son's emotional connection to Mandhana's father, noting that Palash insisted on postponing the wedding until Shrinivas recovers.
Social Media Activity Fuels Speculation
Following the medical emergencies, Mandhana removed all wedding-related content from her Instagram account, including her proposal video. Teammates and close friends including Jemimah Rodrigues, Shreyanka Patil, and Radha Yadav also unfollowed or removed related content, creating speculation among fans about the wedding's status.
However, older casual posts featuring Palash remain visible on her social media profiles, indicating the relationship remains strong despite the postponed ceremony.
Family Requests Privacy During Difficult Time
Palash's sister, singer Palak Muchhal, has publicly requested privacy for both families as they navigate this challenging period. The emotional toll on the couple has been significant, with both families now focused on Shrinivas Mandhana's recovery and the couple's well-being.
No new wedding date has been announced as medical recovery takes precedence over celebration plans. The cricket community and fans have extended their support to the Mandhana family during this health crisis.
