Indian cricket star Smriti Mandhana's brother has publicly addressed swirling rumours about a new date for her postponed wedding to music composer Palash Muchhal. Shravan Mandhana has firmly denied recent reports claiming the couple will now tie the knot on December 7.
Brother Sets the Record Straight on New Wedding Date
In a conversation with a leading publication, Shravan Mandhana expressed his lack of knowledge about the fresh speculation. "I have no idea about these rumours. As of now it (the wedding) is still postponed," he stated clearly. This direct statement from a family member puts to rest the latest round of conjecture that had spread across social media and entertainment news platforms.
The highly anticipated wedding of the cricketer and the composer was originally scheduled for November 23. However, the ceremony in Sangli had to be abruptly postponed. The primary reason cited was the sudden illness of Smriti Mandhana's father on the very day of the wedding, which led to the family's decision to delay the festivities.
Turmoil and Unfounded Rumours After the Postponement
The last-minute change in plans triggered a wave of speculation online. Beyond the confirmed reason of her father's health, unfounded rumours began to surface on various forums and social media pages. Some baseless claims suggested infidelity on Palash Muchhal's part, a narrative that gained traction when fans noticed Smriti had deleted photos and videos related to her engagement and wedding functions from her social media accounts.
This period was reportedly stressful for Palash Muchhal's family as well. His mother informed media that her son was deeply affected by the news of his would-be father-in-law's condition. The stress was said to be so severe that Palash had to be hospitalised for exhaustion, prompting his family to move him to a medical facility in Mumbai after they returned from Sangli.
The controversy also inadvertently dragged in wedding choreographers Nandika Dwivedi and Gulnaaz Khan. Both professionals were forced to issue clarifications on Instagram, defending themselves and stating they had no connection to the wedding's postponement.
Current Status: Silence and Speculation
As of now, neither the Mandhana nor the Muchhal family has made any official announcement regarding a rescheduled date for the wedding. The couple themselves have maintained a strict silence on the entire matter, choosing not to address the rumours publicly.
The situation highlights the intense public and media scrutiny surrounding high-profile unions between sports and entertainment personalities in India. While fans eagerly await positive news, the families are currently focused on health and privacy, with no confirmed plans for when the wedding will finally take place.
