Sumeet Vyas: Fatherhood Didn't Influence My Project Choices
Sumeet Vyas on Parenting and Film Choices

Versatile actor Sumeet Vyas, known for his remarkable performances across movies and digital platforms, has shared candid insights about how fatherhood influences his professional decisions. In a refreshingly honest conversation, the actor admitted that he never consciously selects projects based on whether his young son would be able to watch them.

No Conscious Filter for Family Viewing

Unlike many actors who might consider the suitability of their work for younger audiences, Sumeet Vyas revealed that such considerations have never consciously affected his choice of roles. The actor welcomed his baby boy in 2020, but this significant life change hasn't altered his creative approach to selecting characters and stories.

"I wouldn't say I've consciously chosen anything thinking of that, to be very honest," Vyas stated during his conversation with ANI. However, he did acknowledge that the thought might have crossed his mind subconsciously. "Maybe subconsciously, it has played on my mind - would I be okay if my kid watched it?"

Most Work Unsuitable for Young Audiences

The actor frankly admitted that much of his body of work isn't appropriate for his child to watch currently, and might not be suitable for many years to come. "A lot of my work isn't something my child can watch now, and probably shouldn't in the next 10-15 years," Vyas added, referring to the mature target audience of most projects he chooses.

Despite this acknowledgment, the talented performer believes he hasn't made particularly bold or experimental choices in his career that could significantly influence his child or younger generations. "Actually, I don't think I've made such bold choices, to be very honest," he remarked. "I don't think I have chosen projects which really push the boundaries or which have been so experimental. I would love to at some point, though."

Parenting Philosophy: Freedom and Openness

Sumeet Vyas, recognized for his work in popular series like 'Permanent Roommates', 'Tripling', and films including 'Afwaah' and 'English Vinglish', shared his parenting approach that emphasizes openness and individual freedom.

"I feel, as my kid is growing up, I would want him to be open as a human being to be able to accept different kinds of stories," the actor explained. "I'm very open in my house like that. There are no rules, everybody should do whatever they feel like doing and everybody should live the life they want to live. That's very important. That is the only rule."

This philosophy extends to how he views potential criticism from his son about his work choices. "So that's why I don't think it has ever crossed my mind that I'm choosing this project - will my son like it or not? I mean, if he doesn't like it, he's just going to tell me 'I don't like it'. I'd be okay with it."

Upcoming Project: Ziddi Ishq

Fans of the actor can look forward to seeing him in the upcoming series 'Ziddi Ishq', created and directed by Raj Chakraborty. The show is set in Bengal and follows the story of Mehul, played by Aaditi Pohankar, a young woman whose love for Shekhar Da (Parambrata Chattopadhyay) transforms into obsession after his sudden death.

When authorities dismiss his death as suicide, Mehul embarks on a mission to uncover the truth, leading to a complex web of secrets, betrayal, and revenge. Sumeet Vyas plays the antagonist in this intriguing narrative that promises to keep audiences engaged.

The series will begin streaming on JioHotstar from November 21, offering viewers another opportunity to witness Vyas's acting prowess in a compelling character role that adds to his diverse portfolio of performances across entertainment platforms.
