Sunita Ahuja, wife of veteran Bollywood actor Govinda, has broken her silence regarding the recent controversy surrounding her comments about their family priest. This comes days after Govinda made a public apology on Instagram, a gesture that apparently didn't sit well with his spouse.
Sunita's Strong Reaction to Govinda's Apology
In her latest YouTube vlog, Sunita Ahuja made her feelings clear about Govinda's decision to apologize publicly. "I've been hearing a lot that I used some wrong words," Sunita stated in the video that has since garnered significant attention.
The actress-turned-vlogger expressed particular displeasure with Govinda's gesture of folding hands while apologizing. "My respected Govinda ji, who is my husband, even folded his hands and apologized — which I really didn't like," she revealed emotionally. "Because let me tell you one thing, Chi Chi (Govinda), I would never want you to ever fold your hands in front of anyone for me."
Clarifying Her Original Comments
Sunita took the opportunity to clarify that her initial remarks weren't targeted at any specific individual. "I had not named anyone, nor had I spoken about anyone specifically. Things like that happened to me, so I spoke about them," she explained during the vlog.
Despite maintaining that her comments were general in nature, Sunita extended an apology to religious figures who might have felt offended. She specifically mentioned wishing to apologize to "every sidh-peeth guru and every guru at every shrine" if her words had caused any hurt.
However, she stood firm on her position that Govinda's public clarification was unnecessary. "Right now there are three priests at Govinda ji's place; there was no need to give them this clarification. I felt very bad. I never want Govinda to do this," she stated firmly.
The Controversy That Sparked It All
The entire situation began when Sunita appeared on Paras Chhabra's podcast, where she spoke about encountering a "fraud godman" and hinted that "there's one like that in our house too."
During the podcast appearance, she had accused their family priest of demanding exorbitant sums for various rituals. "He keeps suggesting new pujas and charging lakhs for them. I tell him to do his own puja because his won't help Govinda," she had claimed during the original interview.
Marriage Under Speculation
This public disagreement comes amid ongoing rumors about tension in the couple's marriage. Govinda and Sunita have been together for nearly four decades, having married in 1987 after a long courtship period.
