Tovino Thomas Expresses Deep Admiration for Telugu Cinema and Ram Charan
Malayalam cinema has been steadily expanding its footprint across the diverse landscape of India, with films from the industry now capturing significant attention beyond traditional language barriers. Following the remarkable success of 'Manjummel Boys' in 2024, another Malayalam film has begun generating considerable interest in the Telugu-speaking states, signaling a growing cross-cultural appreciation.
Open Admiration During Hyderabad Promotions
It was during this phase of heightened visibility that actor Tovino Thomas openly spoke about his profound admiration for Telugu cinema while promoting his film 'Ajayante Randam Moshanam'. During media interactions in Hyderabad in 2024, Tovino answered questions about his Telugu film preferences with remarkable candor.
When specifically asked about his favorite actor and movie from the industry, he did not hesitate for a moment. Tovino named superstar Ram Charan as his absolute favorite actor and the critically acclaimed film 'Rangasthalam' as his most loved Telugu cinematic experience.
Sharing his heartfelt thoughts, Tovino said, “I loved Sukumar’s work in Rangasthalam and wished I had been part of a project like that. Ram Charan has delivered one of the best performances in recent times, and I was in awe of it.” His words reflected genuine artistic admiration rather than mere promotion-driven praise, highlighting a sincere appreciation for creative excellence.
Growing Respect for Telugu Cinema's Creative Evolution
Tovino Thomas also spoke extensively about the remarkable creative rise of Telugu films over recent years. He pointed out how both storytelling techniques and production scale have evolved dramatically, creating content that feels simultaneously ambitious and culturally rooted.
According to his observations, every new release from the Telugu industry appears to push creative boundaries further, establishing new benchmarks for regional cinema. His comments resonated strongly with many film enthusiasts, particularly as Malayalam actors increasingly gain appreciation among Telugu audiences, creating a reciprocal cultural exchange.
Upcoming Projects for Both Stars
On the professional front, Tovino Thomas maintains a packed schedule for 2026. Leading his upcoming projects is the pan-Indian action drama 'Pallichattambi', scheduled for release on April 9, 2026. Following this, he will appear in several notable films including 'Toxic', 'Khalifa', and 'Forensic 2'. Beyond these confirmed projects, he is also part of 'Athiradi', 'Lokah Chapter 2', and an untitled collaboration with director Muhsin Parari.
Meanwhile, on the Telugu front, Ram Charan is preparing for his next major release titled 'Peddi', previously referred to as RC16. Directed by Buchi Babu Sana, the film presents Ram Charan in a sports-action avatar and also features Janhvi Kapoor in a significant role, promising another potential blockbuster from the Telugu industry.
The mutual admiration between these cinematic industries reflects a broader trend of regional cinema crossing traditional boundaries and creating new pan-Indian narratives that resonate with diverse audiences across the country.
