Twinkle Khanna Sparks Debate on Modern Relationships in Two Much Show
Twinkle Khanna's Modern Relationships Remark Sparks Debate

Popular actor and writer Twinkle Khanna has once again ignited a fiery debate across social media platforms following a recent episode of her Amazon mini-series chat show, Two Much With Kajol & Twinkle. The show, designed for candid celebrity conversations, is trending for controversial reasons for the second time.

What Sparked the Controversy?

During a segment of the episode featuring director Farah Khan and actor Ananya Panday, Twinkle Khanna made a bold assertion about generational differences in handling relationships. She stated that "older people are much better at hiding affairs," and contrasted this by claiming that "today’s kids change their partners faster than they change outfits."

To visually demonstrate their opinions, the show uses an interactive game where participants step into green or red boxes to indicate agreement or disagreement. Twinkle stood firmly in the green box to affirm her statement, while her co-panelists Kajol, Farah Khan, and Ananya Panday all moved to the red zone in disagreement.

Defending a Divisive Opinion

Twinkle Khanna defended her perspective, suggesting it was a positive development. She explained, "It’s a good thing because humare zamane mein it was like, ‘What will people say? We can’t do this.’" She believes the younger generation's willingness to leave unfulfilling relationships is healthier than staying due to societal pressure.

Kajol immediately countered this view, retorting, "I don’t think so. We’re not today’s kids, you’re not today’s kid." Despite the pushback from her fellow panelists, Twinkle stood her ground, adding, "They are changing their partners quickly, and I think it’s a good thing." A clip from this exchange has since gone viral, spreading rapidly across social media.

Social Media Erupts in Response

The comment did not sit well with a large section of the audience, who flooded the internet with criticism. Many labeled Twinkle's remark as "generic and tone-deaf." One disappointed user commented, "I used to think Twinkle Khanna was quite intelligent before this show, but with every episode she’s getting worse and more annoying." Another user compared her to a "mohalle ki aunty," implying she was being judgmental and gossipy.

A third critic posted, "To me they seemed like post menopausal annoying aunty who does not have anything to talk to people younger then her so she talks anything to make conversation but that does not make any sense."

However, the reaction was not entirely negative. Some users came to Twinkle's defense, arguing that her observation highlighted a positive shift. One supporter wrote, "What’s wrong in this? Many women stay in toxic marriages because of societal pressure. It’s good that the younger generation walks away when things don’t work." This division of opinion has made the episode one of the most discussed moments from the series, reigniting conversations about changing relationship dynamics.

A History of Controversy

This is not the first time Two Much With Twinkle & Kajol has found itself in the eye of a social media storm. An earlier episode featuring filmmaker Karan Johar and actor Janhvi Kapoor also divided audiences with its discussion on infidelity. In that episode, Karan, Kajol, and Twinkle suggested that physical infidelity might not always be a deal-breaker in a relationship, while Janhvi Kapoor firmly disagreed, calling it unacceptable.

Twinkle's comment from that episode—"We’re in our 50s, she’s in her 20s. She hasn’t seen what we’ve seen. Raat gayi baat gayi"—also attracted significant online backlash. The show, which is currently streaming on Prime Video, continues to generate buzz, though not always for the reasons its creators might have hoped.
