Varun Dhawan Opens Up About Father's Health Emergency During Border 2 Filming
In a heartfelt revelation, Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan has shared a deeply personal moment from the production of the war drama Border 2, disclosing that his father, renowned filmmaker David Dhawan, was admitted to the ICU while he was actively shooting the film. This incident, according to Varun, profoundly altered his outlook on online trolling and the intense public scrutiny that often accompanies celebrity life.
The Critical Moment on Set
Speaking at a recent success event for Border 2, Varun detailed the health scare that unfolded during the filming of the Battle of Basantar sequence in Babina. He recounted, "When the film's shooting was ongoing, specifically while we were filming the Battle of Basantar in Babina, my father experienced a health scare and was admitted to the ICU. Obviously, directors Anurag and Binoy were aware of the situation. I immediately took a flight back home to be with him." This sudden departure from the set highlighted the gravity of the family emergency.
A Father's Unwavering Dedication to Work
Varun further described the poignant moment when he visited his father in the ICU, only to be met with David Dhawan's concern for the film's progress. "Upon entering the ICU and seeing my dad, he asked me, 'How can you come back? Why have you returned? Your shooting is still ongoing.'" Despite Varun's insistence on staying by his side, his father urged him to prioritize his professional commitments. "I told him, 'What are you saying, Papa? I will stay here.' But he insisted, 'We make films to entertain people. A producer invests a lot of money. You should go back tomorrow morning and meet your call time.'" This exchange underscored David Dhawan's deep-rooted ethos of responsibility towards the film industry.
Gaining Perspective on Online Trolling
The actor admitted that this harrowing episode provided him with a new lens through which to view online criticism, particularly during a period when he faced trolling over Border 2 promotions and performances. Addressing the scrutiny, Varun stated, "Firstly, trolling happens to everyone. Nowadays, it has become a trend, almost a fashion. Some people can handle it gracefully, while others struggle. Fortunately, I was able to take it in stride." He emphasized the insignificance of such negativity in the face of life's serious challenges, adding, "I just want to say that when serious events occur in life, trolling feels like nothing. It does not make a difference."
This revelation not only sheds light on the personal sacrifices made by celebrities but also serves as a reminder of the resilience required in the entertainment industry. Varun's experience highlights how real-life crises can dwarf the trivialities of online discourse, offering a powerful message about prioritizing what truly matters.
