From Barista to Dance Instructor: A Dual Struggle
Massey's journey into the entertainment industry began out of necessity rather than choice. At 16, he took on roles as a barista and an assistant dance instructor in Shiamak Davar's troupe in Mumbai, driven by the need to pay for his studies. He emphasized that this was not a voluntary path but a forced one due to his family's financial struggles, which left him with no other options to sustain his education.
Surviving on Minimal Sustenance
Recalling those challenging days, Massey revealed the extreme measures he took to make ends meet. He described surviving on just Parle-G biscuits and water, often unable to afford even a simple cup of tea. This frugal lifestyle was coupled with a demanding routine of commuting across four local trains daily, highlighting the physical and emotional toll of his early years.
A Disappointing First Break in Television
Massey's first foray into television came through an offer from Deepthi Kalwani, who spotted him while he worked at a restaurant. Enticed by the promise of a lead role in a fantasy show about an invisible character, he quit his stable job with Shiamak Davar. However, the show never aired despite him shooting seven episodes over 8-9 months, leaving him crushed and unpaid for half his fee. It was eventually broadcast years later at 2 am on Star Plus, a stark reminder of the unpredictability in the industry.

These personal struggles deeply influenced Massey's acclaimed performance in 12th Fail, where he channeled his experiences of hardship and perseverance.
