Vir Das Calls Farah Khan's 'Happy New Year' Faltu, 'Om Shanti Om' Script Ridiculous
Vir Das calls Farah Khan's films 'faltu' & 'ridiculous'

In a promotional vlog filled with laughter and candid revelations, stand-up comedian and actor Vir Das managed to playfully insult filmmaker Farah Khan's popular films, calling one 'faltu' and describing the script of another as 'ridiculous'. The incident occurred when Farah Khan, along with her longtime cook Dilip, visited Das at his home to promote his upcoming movie, Happy Patel.

The 'Faltu' Film Comparison That Sparked Banter

The conversation took a hilarious turn when Farah tried to introduce Dilip to Vir's new film, Happy Patel. Dilip, however, connected the title to Farah's 2014 blockbuster Happy New Year. Reacting to this comparison, Vir Das jokingly said, "Usi type ka pagalpan, faltu type ki picture hai", implying his film was similarly crazy and 'faltu' (useless/silly).

A shocked Farah Khan immediately caught the remark, asking, "Wait a second, did you just call my film faltu?" Vir quickly tried to cover up by claiming his own film was "fully faltu," to which Farah retorted, "You mean to say mine was half faltu?" The light-hearted exchange set the tone for the rest of their chat.

Vir Das on 'Om Shanti Om' and 'Tees Maar Khan'

Later, while discussing the tone of Happy Patel, Vir Das drew comparisons to Farah's iconic film Om Shanti Om. He stated that anyone who liked the 2007 Shah Rukh Khan-starrer would enjoy his new movie. He elaborated on the similarity, saying, "Om Shanti Om is a film where the script is ridiculous, but the actors are playing it as if it's completely real."

Farah, stuck on the word 'ridiculous', joked, "He just called my script stupid. I don't know if he's complimenting me or insulting me." Vir further added that Happy Patel was a top spoof movie—"more than Tees Maar Khan," another of Farah's directorial ventures.

Farah Khan's Verdict on 'Happy Patel'

Despite the friendly roasting, Farah Khan praised the trailer of Vir Das's Happy Patel, which is scheduled for release on January 16. She expressed genuine appreciation, stating, "It is my kind of funny. I love how you have used an accent for your character. I don't know if it's everybody's cup of tea, but I loved it."

The director also engaged in her signature segment of gifting her guests, presenting Vir with multiple presents. In his typical humorous style, Vir remarked, "You are like Santa Claus—but successful," wrapping up the visit on a cheerful note. The entire interaction, filled with wit and mutual respect, showcased the camaraderie between the two artists.
