Zeenat Aman Remembers Dharmendra: 'He Was My Favourite Co-Star'
Zeenat Aman's Heartfelt Tribute to Dharmendra

The Indian film industry is mourning the loss of legendary actor Dharmendra, who passed away at age 89 in Mumbai on Monday, November 24. With a career spanning six remarkable decades, the Bollywood icon leaves behind an unparalleled legacy that includes more hit films than contemporary superstars like Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan.

Zeenat Aman's Emotional Tribute

Among the many heartfelt tributes pouring in, veteran actress Zeenat Aman's emotional Instagram post stands out. The actress, who had previously called Dharmendra her 'favourite co-star', shared touching memories of their time working together across numerous films.

Sharing two nostalgic photographs from their film sets, Zeenat expressed that the world has lost a precious jewel. 'Dharam ji was always amongst my favourite co-stars, and I am blessed to have worked alongside him in a number of movies,' she wrote in her emotional post.

A Comforting Presence on Set

Zeenat revealed how Dharmendra's genuine personality provided comfort to her introverted nature during filming. 'For an introverted personality such as myself, his down-to-earth demeanour and natural kindness were a warm comfort on set,' she shared.

The actress particularly appreciated how Dharmendra remained authentic amidst the pressure and glamour of Bollywood. 'At times when the pressure, glitz and glam felt horribly garish, there he was with no pretences or guile. A sweet reminder that life is about the real things, not the fluff,' she added.

Memorable Collaborations

The legendary actors shared the screen in numerous successful films throughout their careers. Their collaborations include classic movies like Yaadon Ki Baaraat (1973), Dharam Veer (1977), and the international heist film Shalimar (1988).

Other notable films featuring both stars include Alibaba Aur 40 Chor (1980), Ram Balram (1980), Katilon Ke Kaatil (1981), Krodhi (1981), Professor Pyarelal (1981), Samraat (1982), and Teen Murti/Jagir (1984).

In a previous Instagram post, Zeenat had shared amusing behind-the-scenes details about their work together on Shalimar. The film was simultaneously shot in English and Hindi versions, requiring both actors to work with language tutors after daily shoots to perfect their dialogues.

Zeenat concluded her tribute with heartfelt condolences to Dharmendra's family, noting that 'his legacy is cherished by millions of Indians around the world.' The emotional post serves as a beautiful testament to the genuine bond shared by two of Bollywood's most beloved stars.
