Akhanda 2 Box Office: Film Earns ₹86.87 Cr in 13 Days Despite Mixed Reviews
Akhanda 2 Box Office: ₹86.87 Cr in 13 Days

The fantasy action sequel 'Akhanda 2: Thaandavam', starring Nandamuri Balakrishna, has successfully completed over ten days in theatres, amassing a significant total at the domestic box office. Despite receiving a mixed to negative response from critics, the film continues its run across multiple languages, showcasing the star's enduring appeal among his core audience.

Box Office Performance: A Detailed Breakdown

According to trade reports from Sacnilk, the film's overall India net collection after thirteen days stands at ₹86.87 crore. The theatrical journey began with a robust first week, where the movie earned ₹76.75 crore. The lion's share of this revenue came from its Telugu version, with the Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam dubbed versions contributing smaller amounts.

The daily collections, however, tell a story of steep decline after the initial rush. On its eleventh day, the film managed to collect ₹1.05 crore, which represented a drop of nearly 70 percent from its first-week numbers. The downward trend continued on Day 12 with earnings of ₹1 crore, a further decline of about 4.76 percent. Early estimates for the thirteenth day are pegged at a modest ₹0.37 crore.

Regional Occupancy: Mass Centres vs Metro Markets

The film's performance reveals a clear geographical divide in its audience pull. Occupancy data highlights its stronghold in the mass centres of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Karimnagar led the pack with an impressive average occupancy of 47.5%, reaching a maximum of 56%. Guntur followed with an average of 30.5%.

Tier II cities in the Telugu states maintained good momentum. Chennai recorded a 20% occupancy, while Warangal and Mahbubnagar saw 17% and 17.5% respectively. Hyderabad and Vizag (Visakhapatnam) both reported 16.5% occupancy. Notably, Hyderabad hosted the largest number of screenings with 300 shows, despite its moderate average occupancy.

In stark contrast, the film failed to generate significant interest in major metropolitan markets. Bengaluru reported a low average occupancy of just 9%, and Mumbai saw negligible traction, underscoring the movie's limited appeal beyond its traditional Telugu-speaking fanbase.

Film Details and Cast

'Akhanda 2: Thaandavam' is a Telugu-language fantasy action thriller directed by Boyapati Sreenu. Released on 12 December 2025 in both 3D and 2D formats, it serves as the sequel to the 2021 blockbuster 'Akhanda'. This project marks the fourth collaboration between superstar Balakrishna and director Boyapati Sreenu.

The film features Samyuktha Menon as the female lead, with Aadhi Pinisetty portraying the antagonist. Harshaali Malhotra makes her debut in Telugu cinema with this film. The technical crew includes music composer Thaman S, cinematographer C Ramprasad, and editor Tammiraju.

The box office trajectory of 'Akhanda 2' solidifies its position as a mass entertainer with a dedicated regional following. While it may not have broken records in pan-India markets, its collections in the Telugu heartland have ensured it becomes Balakrishna's fourth highest-grossing film in his career, proving the potent combination of the actor and director still works for their target audience.
