Akhanda 2 Box Office Day 15: Earnings Drop to ₹0.36 Cr, Total at ₹89.41 Cr
Akhanda 2 Day 15: Collections Dip Sharply, Total ₹89.41 Cr

The highly anticipated sequel Akhanda 2: Thaandavam, starring Nandamuri Balakrishna, is witnessing a significant slowdown in its theatrical run. The film's performance has notably muted as it completed its 15th day in cinemas, reflecting a broader decline in its second-week collections.

Sharp Decline in Second Week Collections

According to early estimates from industry trackers, the fantasy action thriller managed to earn only approximately ₹0.36 crore on its second Friday, which was its 15th day in theatres. This single-day figure has pushed the film's total domestic net collection to an estimated ₹89.41 crore. The drop becomes starkly clear when looking at the weekly aggregates.

The film's second-week collection stands at a total of ₹12.3 crore. This represents a massive 83.97 per cent decline compared to its opening week business, highlighting a pronounced erosion in audience turnout on weekdays. The data, sourced from Sacnilk's box office tracking, shows that the film collected ₹1.45 crore on its second Thursday and ₹1.1 crore on the Wednesday prior.

Low Occupancy and Waning Momentum

Theatrical occupancy figures further underscore the film's struggle to hold audience interest. On Day 14, the overall Telugu occupancy was a subdued 17.71 per cent. Morning shows were particularly weak, registering only 14.09 per cent occupancy. While there was a marginal increase in footfall during the afternoon and evening shows, the overall tepid response signals waning momentum as the film entered its second weekend.

Trade analysts have characterized the film's commercial journey as one of a sharp early decline. Despite posting robust opening figures, the film could not sustain the pace. Even holiday boosts, such as the Christmas holiday on its 14th day, provided only a temporary uplift. The Christmas bump helped the film earn around ₹1.65 crore, taking its total to nearly ₹89.25 crore before the Day 15 estimates were added. Prior to this holiday, the film had amassed an estimated ₹87.6 crore in its first 13 days.

International Performance and Film Details

On the international front, Akhanda 2: Thaandavam has achieved a notable milestone. In the North American market, the film has crossed the half-a-million-dollar mark. This achievement is significant considering the logistical and legal hurdles it faced ahead of its release. The international performance demonstrates the film's continued appeal among the diaspora audience, even as its domestic run slows down.

The film, directed by Boyapati Srinu, is a sequel to the 2021 blockbuster Akhanda. It continues the saga of a powerful Aghora warrior. The cast includes Samyuktha Menon, Aadhi Pinisetty, and Harshaali Malhotra in principal roles. Released on 12 December 2025 in multiple formats including 3D, 2D, and EPIQ, the film carried high expectations due to its predecessor's success and the team's pedigree.

However, Akhanda 2 has been met with generally negative reviews from both critics and audiences. The criticism has largely focused on narrative and treatment issues, rather than the performances of the cast. This critical reception has likely contributed to the film's inability to maintain strong box office numbers beyond its initial opening.
