Border 2 Advance Bookings Show Strong Early Demand in India and Overseas
Border 2 Advance Bookings Show Strong Early Demand

Advance ticket sales for the upcoming patriotic film Border 2 have kicked off with impressive momentum both in India and international markets. This strong early interest signals positive prospects for the film's theatrical release later this week.

Overseas Markets Show Encouraging Response

Trade observers report that initial advance bookings in international territories have been particularly encouraging for a large-scale patriotic film backed by an established franchise. Australia has emerged as the strongest overseas market so far, showing healthy advance bookings during the opening phase.

Similar traction has been noted in the United States and Germany, where the Indian diaspora and audiences nostalgic for the original Border film are driving ticket sales. Within the film industry, overseas advance trends often serve as an early indicator for domestic performance, and the steady response abroad has boosted positive sentiment about the film's box office potential.

Indian Advance Bookings Gain Momentum

In India, advance bookings opened in phases earlier this week. Currently, ticket sales have gone live in approximately 40% of cinemas, with limited shows as exhibitors carefully gauge audience demand.

Multiplex chain PVR INOX reports that more than 2,000 tickets for opening day have already been sold across its properties, indicating robust initial interest. Ticketing platform BookMyShow has also reported brisk activity, with early sales crossing the 20,000 mark nationwide.

National multiplex chains have collectively moved past 10,000 tickets in advance sales. Trade analysts describe these numbers as a healthy start for the film.

Release Timing and Holiday Advantage

Border 2 arrives nearly three decades after the release of the original Border in 1997. The film is set to hit theatres on January 23, 2026, just ahead of the Republic Day weekend.

With Republic Day falling on a Monday, the extended holiday period is expected to give the film additional room to build momentum at the box office. This favorable release window could significantly boost its opening performance.

Star Power and Audience Appeal

The film features Sunny Deol in the lead role, supported by Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, Ahan Shetty, Mona Singh, Sonam Bajwa, Medha Rana, and Anya Singh. Trade experts note that while advance bookings provide useful indicators, Border 2 is not expected to rely heavily on pre-sales alone.

Sunny Deol continues to command strong mass appeal, particularly in single screens and non-urban centers. In these markets, walk-ins and spot bookings traditionally contribute significantly to opening-day numbers.

Mixed Online Reactions and Ground Reality

While the film's teaser and trailer have received mixed reactions online, industry watchers caution against reading too much into social media sentiment. A trade analyst explained that ground-level response often tells a different story, especially for patriotic films with legacy value.

Directed by Anurag Singh, Border 2 is presented by T-Series in association with J.P. Dutta's J.P. Films. The film is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, J.P. Dutta, and Nidhi Dutta.

With advance bookings gaining pace and a holiday window in its favor, Border 2 is expected to open strongly at the box office. All eyes are now on how the film performs once word-of-mouth kicks in after its release.
