The Sankranthi season brought a fierce box office battle this year. Major releases from top stars clashed for audience attention. While some films soared, others struggled to find their footing.
Chiranjeevi Emerges Victorious
Veteran actor Chiranjeevi's latest film, Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu, has taken a strong lead. The movie enjoyed decent word-of-mouth support from audiences. It also posted impressive box office numbers right from its opening.
After a solid start, the film maintained steady momentum through its first week. By its fourth day in theaters, it had already grossed Rs 100 crore in India alone. Notably, the film earned Rs 22 crore on Thursday, which was higher than its third-day collection of Rs 19.5 crore.
This performance indicates sustained audience interest. The film is likely to maintain a strong hold over the coming weekend. Industry observers note that Chiranjeevi seems to have had the last laugh in this festive clash.
Prabhas Faces Disappointment
For superstar Prabhas, the story has been disappointing at the ticket window. His film The Raja Saab failed to resonate with audiences. After completing one week in theaters, the movie has grossed Rs 130.40 crore at the box office.
The film opened with a bumper Rs 53.75 crore on its first day. However, it saw a sharp decline in collections soon after. By the first Monday, earnings had dropped to single digits. On its seventh day, it earned just Rs 5.65 crore.
This situation is particularly concerning given the film's reported Rs 300 crore budget. In just one week, it has not managed to cross Rs 150 crore domestically. The future for Prabhas' current release appears bleak according to trade analysts.
Ranveer Singh's Dhurandhar Continues Golden Run
Meanwhile, Ranveer Singh's Dhurandhar continues its record-breaking performance. The film first became the highest-grosser of 2025. It has now become the fourth-highest grossing Indian film domestically in terms of net collection.
On its 42nd day, the movie earned about Rs 3 crore. This takes its domestic net collection to over Rs 860 crore. The worldwide earnings are even more remarkable. The film has grossed over Rs 1306 crore globally so far.
This achievement surpasses Yash's KGF Chapter 2, which collected Rs 1215 crore worldwide. Even after six weeks in theaters, Dhurandhar continues to compete strongly with new releases. It gives tough competition to both The Raja Saab and Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu.
Looking Ahead
All eyes are now on Dhurandhar 2, which is slated for release during Eid 2026. The sequel will clash with Yash's upcoming action film Toxic. This sets the stage for another major box office battle next year.
The current box office scenario shows clear winners and strugglers. While Chiranjeevi races ahead of Prabhas in the Sankranthi releases, Ranveer Singh's blockbuster continues to break records long after its release. The festive season has certainly delivered dramatic results at the ticket counters.
