Dhurandhar 2 Achieves Monumental Box Office Success with Rs 1,700 Crore Worldwide
The spy-action film Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge has demonstrated remarkable resilience at the box office, concluding its fourth weekend on a high note. According to a report from Sacnilk, the film wrapped up its fourth Sunday, marking Day 25, with an early estimated net collection of Rs 14.75 crore. This brings its gross total to an impressive Rs 17.68 crore for that day alone.
Week 4 Performance and Comparison with Original
Directed by Aditya Dhar and featuring Ranveer Singh in the lead role, Dhurandhar 2 ended its fourth week with an estimated net collection of Rs 35.25 crore and a gross total of approximately Rs 42.25 crore. However, the sequel was unable to surpass the fourth weekend record set by its predecessor, Dhurandhar. While the sequel earned around Rs 35.25 crore, the original film collected a net total of Rs 58 crore during its corresponding fourth weekend, highlighting a notable difference in performance.
Weekly Box Office Collections and Decline
Since its release on March 19, Dhurandhar 2 has experienced a significant decline in box office collections, a common trend for major releases. The film started with an explosive opening, amassing an impressive Rs 674.17 crore net in Week 1. However, the numbers saw a sharp drop in the subsequent weeks:
- Week 1: Rs 674.17 crore net
- Week 2: Rs 263.65 crore net
- Week 3: Rs 110.60 crore net
This pattern reflects the typical lifecycle of blockbuster films, where initial hype drives massive earnings before tapering off.
Total Collections and Historic Milestone
With these figures, the film's current India net collection stands at an estimated Rs 1,083.67 crore. The all-India gross total has reached approximately Rs 1,297.48 crore, while its overseas haul is estimated at Rs 415.50 crore. Combining these, Dhurandhar 2 has achieved an estimated worldwide collection of Rs 1,712.98 crore.
This accomplishment is particularly historic as the film has become the first Bollywood production to cross the Rs 1,700 crore mark worldwide in Phase 1, achieving this feat in a record-breaking 25 days without a release in the Gulf region. This milestone sets Dhurandhar 2 apart in the cinematic landscape, showcasing its dominance in the Hindi market.
Comparison with Pan-Indian Blockbusters
The achievement places Dhurandhar 2 in a unique league, especially when compared to recent pan-Indian titans such as Pushpa 2: The Rule and Baahubali 2: The Conclusion. While those films recorded staggering numbers, they were originally Telugu productions where the Hindi dub served as a secondary revenue stream. In contrast, Dhurandhar 2 relied primarily on the Hindi market as its central engine, accounting for a massive share of the Rs 1,068.92 crore total India net collection.
This underscores the film's significant impact and appeal within its core audience, reinforcing Bollywood's ability to generate substantial revenue from domestic markets without relying heavily on regional dubs or international releases in key areas like the Gulf.
