Dhurandhar Box Office Day 29: Ranveer Singh Film Dips to Single Digits, Crosses Rs 1162 Cr
Dhurandhar Box Office Slows, Earns Rs 8.75 Cr on Day 29

Ranveer Singh's blockbuster spy-thriller Dhurandhar has finally seen a significant dip in its phenomenal box office run, dropping to single-digit earnings for the first time on its fourth Friday. The film, which has been a juggernaut since its release on December 5, crossed the monumental Rs 1100 crore mark globally but is now showing signs of slowing down as it enters its fifth week.

Day 29 Box Office Numbers and Occupancy

According to data from industry tracker Sacnilk, Dhurandhar minted Rs 8.75 crore on its 29th day, which was Friday, January 2. This is its lowest single-day collection so far. This earning has pushed the film's domestic (India) net total to an impressive Rs 747.75 crore.

The overall theatre occupancy for the film on that day was recorded at 18 percent. The breakdown of shows reveals a gradual build-up through the day: morning shows saw 9.65% occupancy, afternoon shows improved to 20.32%, and evening shows peaked at 21.93%.

In key metropolitan areas, the performance was steady. The National Capital Region (NCR) recorded a 20 percent occupancy across 921 shows, while Mumbai saw an 18.33 percent occupancy across 633 shows.

Historic Worldwide Collections and Rankings

The slowdown comes after the film achieved historic milestones. The worldwide gross collection for Dhurandhar has now reached a staggering Rs 1,162.25 crore. With this figure, the Aditya Dhar-directed film has officially surpassed the lifetime worldwide collections of two other Shah Rukh Khan mega-hits:

  • Pathaan (Rs 1,069.85 crore)
  • Jawan (Rs 1,163.62 crore)

This cements Dhurandhar's position as the sixth highest-grossing Indian film of all time globally. However, it still trails behind the giants of Indian cinema: KGF Chapter 2, RRR, Pushpa 2 The Rule, Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, and Dangal.

Competition and Future Challenges

Dhurandhar had successfully fended off competition from new releases like Kartik Aaryan's 'Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri' and 'Avatar: Ash and Fire'. However, a new challenge emerged with the January 1 release of the war drama 'Ikkis', starring Agastya Nanda.

Since both Dhurandhar and Ikkis are distributed by Jio Studios, industry sources indicate that 50 percent of Dhurandhar's screens will be allocated to the new war drama. This screen-sharing arrangement is a key factor behind the spy-thriller's reduced collections and occupancy.

Featuring an ensemble cast including Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, R. Madhavan, and Sara Arjun, Dhurandhar is a joint production of Jio Studios and B62 Studios. Fans won't have to wait long for more action, as the sequel, Dhurandhar 2, is scheduled for a theatrical release on March 19 this year.
