Ranveer Singh's period spy thriller Dhurandhar continues its phenomenal box office run, achieving yet another monumental milestone. On its 37th day in theatres, the Aditya Dhar-directed film has officially crossed the Rs 850 crore mark in net domestic collections, setting its sights on a major historical record.
A Stellar Fifth Weekend Performance
Even in its fifth week, Dhurandhar shows no signs of slowing down. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the film collected an impressive Rs 5.75 crore on Saturday, Day 37 of its release. This marked a significant jump from its Friday (Day 36) earnings of Rs 3.50 crore. The film's sustained performance over weekends highlights its enduring appeal among audiences across the country.
Production houses Jio Studios and B62 Studios provided a detailed breakdown via Instagram. They stated that the film amassed Rs 784.50 crore in its first four weeks. Adding the fifth week's collection of over Rs 51 crore, along with Friday and Saturday's figures, brings the total Indian net collection to a staggering Rs 850.20 crore. With Sunday's earnings still to be added, the final tally is expected to climb even higher.
Inching Closer to a Box Office Giant
The film's current domestic total places it on the cusp of cinematic history. Dhurandhar is now merely Rs 9.5 crore away from overtaking the Yash-starrer KGF: Chapter 2, which collected Rs 859.70 crore in India. Surpassing this figure would make Ranveer Singh's spy thriller the third highest-grossing Indian film ever at the domestic box office, a monumental achievement for a Hindi film.
However, the climb to the top two spots remains steep. The summit is occupied by two Telugu blockbusters: Allu Arjun's Pushpa 2: The Rule (Rs 1234.10 crore) and Prabhas's Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (Rs 1030.42 crore). Nonetheless, if Dhurandhar surpasses KGF: Chapter 2, it will secure the title of the highest-grossing non-Telugu film in Indian box office history.
Global Domination and the Worldwide Race
The film's success is not confined to Indian shores. On the global stage, Dhurandhar has already outpaced its immediate competitor. The film has amassed over Rs 1250 crore worldwide, surpassing the global totals of both KGF: Chapter 2 (Rs 1215 crore) and SS Rajamouli's RRR (Rs 1230 crore).
This positions Dhurandhar as the fourth highest-grossing Indian film globally. The top three are Pushpa 2: The Rule (Rs 1742.10 crore), Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (Rs 1788.06 crore), and Aamir Khan's Dangal (Rs 2070.30 crore). An interesting point of note is that Dangal's figure includes approximately Rs 1200 crore from China. Excluding the China market, Dhurandhar would stand as the highest-grossing Hindi film worldwide, a testament to its unprecedented pan-India and international appeal.
The sustained box office momentum of Dhurandhar, led by Ranveer Singh's powerhouse performance and Aditya Dhar's visionary direction, underscores a massive victory for Hindi cinema. All eyes are now on the coming days to see if it can clinch the third spot domestically, cementing its place in the annals of Indian box office history.
