The box office supremacy of Ranveer Singh-starrer Dhurandhar shows no signs of slowing down as it enters its fourth week. On its 27th day in theatres, the Aditya Dhar directorial has achieved a monumental feat, cementing its place as the highest-grossing Indian film ever released in a single language.
Record-Breaking Numbers on Fourth Wednesday
According to box office tracking portal Sacnilk, Dhurandhar collected an impressive Rs 10.5 crore on its fourth Wednesday. This robust earning has propelled its total domestic (India net) collection to a staggering Rs 722.5 crore. The film's relentless performance is historic, as it is the only non-multilingual Indian film to have entered the coveted Rs 1,000 crore worldwide club.
Reports indicate that the film was expected to cross the Rs 1,100 crore mark in global earnings on the same day. With this, Dhurandhar has officially surpassed the worldwide collections of pan-India multilingual blockbusters like Jawan and Pushpa 2, which had crossed approximately Rs 1,050 crore. This makes Dhurandhar's achievement in a single language all the more remarkable.
Dominance in the All-Time Rankings and Current Competition
When considering all versions and languages of Indian films, Dhurandhar now ranks as the seventh highest-grossing Indian film of all time. Its dominance continues unabated even with new releases. The recent romantic drama Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri, starring Kartik Aaryan and Ananya Panday, has faced intense competition, managing to collect only about Rs 27 crore in its first six days.
However, the road ahead presents fresh challenges. The industry is keenly watching the release of Agastya Nanda's Ikkis on January 1, 2026, which also marks the posthumous release of veteran star Dharmendra. Furthermore, two major releases—Prabhas's The Raja Saab and Vijay's Jana Nayagan—are scheduled for January 9, 2026, which will test Dhurandhar's staying power in the coming weeks.
Overseas Setback and Financial Impact
Despite its phenomenal success, the film's journey hasn't been without hurdles. Overseas distributor Pranab Kapadia recently revealed a significant financial blow. In an interview with CNN-News18, Kapadia stated that Dhurandhar lost an estimated $10 million (roughly Rs 83 crore) in potential box office revenue due to a ban in Middle Eastern countries.
"I think this is at least a ten-million-dollar box office that we have lost," Kapadia said, highlighting that action genres traditionally perform exceptionally well in that region. The absence of a release there undoubtedly impacted the film's final global tally, making its current numbers a testament to its overwhelming popularity in other markets.
As Dhurandhar continues its record-shattering run, it redefines the potential of single-language cinema in India, proving that compelling storytelling and powerful performances, led by Ranveer Singh, can achieve what was once thought possible only through multi-lingual releases.
