The spy action spectacle Dhurandhar, directed by Aditya Dhar, is demonstrating remarkable staying power at the box office, continuing to pull in audiences well into its sixth week. The film, which features an ensemble cast led by Ranveer Singh, has now crossed a monumental domestic milestone.
Steady Collections in Week Six
According to early estimates from the trade portal Sacnilk, Dhurandhar collected approximately ₹1.28 crore on its 39th day in Indian theatres. This brings the film's total India net collection to a staggering ₹806.93 crore. The performance in its fifth week totalled ₹51.25 crore, which, while representing a drop of over 50% from the fourth week, is consistent with the expected trajectory for a film with such a long theatrical run.
The daily trend leading up to Day 39 showcased typical weekend boosts. On its sixth Friday (Day 36), the film earned around ₹3.5 crore. This was followed by a significant jump to roughly ₹5.75 crore on the sixth Saturday (Day 37), and a further rise to about ₹6.15 crore on the sixth Sunday (Day 38). The Monday (Day 39) figure of ₹1.28 crore reflects the usual weekday decline.
Global Footprint and Theatre Occupancy
The film's financial success is not confined to India. While updated worldwide numbers for Day 39 are awaited, the cumulative figures up to Day 38 are impressive. Dhurandhar has grossed around ₹1,256 crore worldwide, with the India gross contribution estimated at ₹966.65 crore. This achievement is particularly notable as it was accomplished without a release in the Chinese market, a rare feat for a Bollywood production.
Theatre occupancy on Day 39, however, indicated a modest turnout. In Hindi 2D screens, the morning shows saw an occupancy of about 7.73%, which improved to 13.85% in the afternoon and 14.53% in the evening. Night shows registered negligible numbers. While this shows a steady audience presence, it is a marked contrast to the packed houses the film enjoyed during its initial weeks.
A Record-Breaking Journey and Sequel Plans
Released on 5 December 2025, Dhurandhar was met with mixed-to-positive reviews from critics. The performances of stars like Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, and Sara Arjun, along with the high-octane action sequences and cinematography, were widely praised. Some critiques were aimed at its lengthy runtime of 214 minutes and pacing issues.
Despite facing hurdles, including a release ban in Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries and parts of the Middle East due to political sensitivities, the film found robust patronage in key international territories like the United States, Canada, and Australia. It has emerged as one of the highest-grossing Indian films in these markets.
The film's historic run includes becoming the highest-grossing Hindi film ever in domestic net collections, surpassing the previous record holder, Pushpa 2: The Rule. Reflecting the immense confidence in the franchise's appeal, a sequel titled Dhurandhar 2 is already scheduled for release on 19 March 2026. The next installment is expected to expand the narrative's geopolitical scope while building on the monumental commercial success of the first film.
