Ranveer Singh's high-octane spy thriller, Dhurandhar, continues its historic box office run, demonstrating incredible staying power well into its fifth week. The Aditya Dhar-directed film has not only shattered multiple records but has now firmly positioned itself among the highest-grossing Indian films of all time, with a staggering global collection exceeding Rs 1188 crore.
A Remarkable Fifth Weekend Bounce Back
After a nearly month-long sprint where it consistently earned double-digit figures daily, Dhurandhar finally saw a dip on its 29th day, a Friday. The film collected Rs 8.75 crore, marking its first single-digit day since release and a 44.44% drop from the previous day's Rs 15.75 crore. However, the film showcased its immense popularity by bouncing back strongly over the weekend.
On Saturday, day 30, Dhurandhar roared back into double digits, adding Rs 11.75 crore to its domestic tally. The momentum continued on Sunday, day 31, with an even higher collection of Rs 12.75 crore. This impressive fifth-weekend performance has taken the film's total net collection in India to an estimated Rs 772.25 crore, as reported by industry tracker Sacnilk.
Historic Domestic and Global Milestones
In a significant announcement on Sunday, production house Jio Studios confirmed that Dhurandhar has officially entered the elite Rs 800 crore club in India, with a gross collection of Rs 806.80 crore. This makes it the first original Hindi film to ever cross the Rs 800 crore mark at the domestic box office.
On the domestic front, Dhurandhar is now the highest-grossing Bollywood film in India, having surpassed previous blockbusters like Chhaava, Stree 2, and Jawan. However, the all-India record across languages is still held by Allu Arjun's Pushpa 2: The Rule, which has earned Rs 1,234.10 crore.
Globally, the film's earnings have soared past Rs 1188 crore, placing it among the top five highest-grossing Indian films worldwide. It is now inching closer to the collections of KGF: Chapter 2 (Rs 1215 crore) and RRR (Rs 1230 crore). The film's current worldwide ranking highlights its phenomenal success:
- Pushpa 2: The Rule - Rs 1742.10 crore
- Baahubali 2: The Conclusion - Rs 1788.06 crore
- Dangal - Rs 2070.30 crore
- RRR - Rs 1230 crore
- KGF: Chapter 2 - Rs 1215 crore
- Dhurandhar - Rs 1188 crore+
The Road Ahead and Industry Impact
As Dhurandhar approaches the Rs 1200 crore milestone globally, its journey redefines success parameters for Hindi cinema. It's important to note that if the Chinese box office revenue for Dangal (approximately Rs 1200 crore) is excluded, Dhurandhar stands as the highest-grossing Hindi film globally of all time.
The film's sustained performance, especially the ability to draw audiences back for a strong fifth weekend, underscores its word-of-mouth appeal and Ranveer Singh's star power. Directed by Aditya Dhar, who received praise from filmmakers like Anurag Kashyap, Dhurandhar has blended espionage thrills with political commentary, resonating deeply with audiences. Its box office dominance signals a robust recovery for Bollywood and sets a new benchmark for spy thrillers in Indian cinema.
