Dhurandhar Hits Rs 550 Cr, Breaks Third Weekend Records

The Aditya Dhar-directed spy action thriller 'Dhurandhar', starring Ranveer Singh, has solidified its position as a monumental box office success. The film has not only crossed the massive Rs 550 crore net milestone in India but has also shattered multiple records during its spectacular third weekend run, showing no signs of slowing down.

Record-Breaking Third Weekend Collections

'Dhurandhar' entered its third week with explosive momentum. On its third Friday, the film collected a staggering Rs 22.50 crores net, which was nearly 70% higher than the previous record holder for a third Friday, 'Chhaava'. The momentum only intensified on Saturday, with the film witnessing an estimated 50% jump to collect approximately Rs 34.25 crores net, marking the highest third Saturday collection ever for a Hindi film.

The peak arrived on Sunday. Early estimates from Sacnilk indicate the film collected around Rs 38.25 crore net across 5,481 shows, aligning with trade predictions of Rs 38-40 crore. This phenomenal performance resulted in a third weekend net collection of nearly Rs 95 crores, a figure that has stunned trade analysts.

Dominating The Domestic And Global Competition

The film's dominance was highlighted by its direct competition with the Hollywood giant, 'Avatar: Fire and Ash'. While 'Dhurandhar' earned approximately Rs 93 crores net over the weekend, the James Cameron-directed sequel managed an estimated Rs 66.65 crores net in India. This represents a nearly 50% drop compared to the opening weekend of its predecessor, 'Avatar: The Way of Water'.

In terms of gross collections, 'Dhurandhar' earned an impressive Rs 45.90 crore gross on Sunday alone, following Rs 27 crore on Friday and Rs 41.10 crore on Saturday. This pushed its Week 3 gross total to an estimated Rs 114 crore. The film's occupancy rates told a similar story of overwhelming audience response, with an overall 62.73% occupancy on Sunday. Afternoon and evening shows saw peak occupancies soaring between 76.92% and 79.54%.

On Track To Make History

'Dhurandhar' is now on the cusp of creating history. Its third-weekend net collection is already higher than the entire third-week net collection of all other Hindi films, barring one. It currently sits second only to 'Pushpa 2: The Rule', which earned Rs 103 crores in its full third week. Given its sustained momentum, trade circles believe 'Dhurandhar' could surpass the 'Pushpa 2' record as early as Monday, claiming the title of the highest third-week grosser of all time.

Meanwhile, the film's total net collection stands at an estimated Rs 555 crores, making it the second-biggest Hindi net grosser of the year so far. It is now gearing up to claim the top spot by dethroning 'Chhaava', which had a total domestic collection of Rs 585 crores. The relentless box office performance of 'Dhurandhar' underscores Ranveer Singh's star power and Aditya Dhar's directorial prowess, setting a new benchmark for commercial success in Indian cinema.
