In a historic turn of events, the Ranveer Singh-starrer epic Dhurandhar has officially shattered box office records in North America. The film, directed by Aditya Dhar, has now become the highest-grossing Hindi film of all time in the lucrative North American market, dethroning the previous record-holder, Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan.
A Record-Breaking North American Journey
Dhurandhar has amassed a staggering USD 17.52 million (approx. Rs. 146 crore) in North America. This figure narrowly but decisively surpasses the USD 17.49 million collection of Pathaan, Siddharth Anand's spy thriller that marked Shah Rukh Khan's grand comeback. The achievement is monumental, considering the shifting patterns of overseas movie-watching where maintaining audience interest beyond the initial weeks is a significant challenge.
The film's box office trajectory reveals a story of incredible stamina. It opened with a solid $522,000 on its first day. The momentum built over the opening weekend, with collections rising to $852,000 on day two and three. However, the real surprise was the spectacular performance in the second weekend. On that Friday, it earned $930,000, which skyrocketed to $1.4 million on Saturday, followed by $1.21 million on Sunday. Even on its 25th day, the film added a robust $446,000 to its total, pushing it past the historic milestone.
Climbing the All-India Ranks
This North American triumph catapults Dhurandhar to the third position among the highest-grossing Indian films ever in the region. The only two films ahead of it are both Telugu blockbusters starring Prabhas: Kalki 2898 AD with USD 18.57 million and the monumental Baahubali 2: The Conclusion with USD 22 million. Given its current steaming pace, industry analysts suggest the records of these southern giants could also be under threat.
Parallelly, the film's dominance is not limited to foreign shores. In the Indian domestic market, Dhurandhar has achieved a colossal feat. Within just 27 days, it has raked in a mammoth Rs 723.02 crore nett. This places it firmly at the number 5 spot on the list of highest-grossing films in India. What makes this achievement even more remarkable is the context: the four films above it are all from the South Indian film industries, and their position was bolstered by their Hindi-dubbed versions. Dhurandhar, in contrast, has achieved this staggering number with a sole Hindi release.
The Road Ahead and Future Plans
The ensemble cast, featuring Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, R Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt, Rakesh Bedi, Gaurav Gera, and Sara Arjun, has delivered a powerhouse performance that shows no signs of slowing down, both in India and internationally. Looking to the future, the producers are strategically planning to tap into the Southern market for the sequel. Dhurandhar Part 2, slated for release on 19th March 2026, will be dubbed into South Indian languages to expand its reach and potentially chase even greater box office glory.
This dual success—breaking overseas records for Hindi cinema and securing a top-five all-India rank with a single-language release—cements Dhurandhar's place as a cultural and commercial phenomenon. It underscores the evolving power of content-driven cinema with pan-Indian appeal and sets a new benchmark for Bollywood's global aspirations.
